What are sales teams/the sales environment like at your company? Is it cut throat or collaborative/laid back?

I've worked in several sales positions and I would say that commissions-only jobs are the most cut throat. I've had people steal my clients. But I have also worked with really collaborative teams that help each other find leads.

I work in a commission only position, and my team is very collaborative and helpful. Never cut throat. We hype each other up, talk each other through bad days or interactions, celebrate successes and openly give tips and bounce around ideas!

Our company has commission only sales reps and mgmt swears it’s a ‘team’ but they’re independent contractors and can be pretty cutthroat sometimes. Not much collaborative action but they’re very congratulatory when one makes a sale.

Hi there! I'm blessed with a collaborative sales environment and I'm so thankful. My previous company could not provide us employees this type of environment, hence the transfer.

What company did you start at

Pretty laid back. Chill but really performing. I'm glad to belong to a company with a very relax work culture. Management is supportive and very understanding.

Cut throat. I've never worked at a company with a laid back environment. It's exhausting but challenging at the same time.

My team is cut throat to the max, they will snakes your deal any chance they get.. and if your client calls the main line asking for you.. 90%chance your not getting that call

Our team is unexpectedly chill! Our team head is very hands on and quute supportive. The rest of the team are just as supportive and are ready to lend a hand whenever. I'm glad I found them.

Looking for career advice. 8 total YOE and 3 1/2 in sales specifically. Just over 3 YOE with an industrial IoT company selling mostly hardware and some custom software solutions and occasionally cloud connectors as an inside sales engineer. I'm about to finish an Enterprise software sales internship at IBM but will need to find a job as a contingency in case things don't work out. Just trying to figure out what roles may make the most sense given that background. Hoping to stay in tech. Thanks!

Went on a final interview today and the interviewer yawned through my presentation, was so BRUTAL with feedback, and was just super low-energy. This dude picked apart my entire presentation and frowned through all of it. Up until this point, everyone that I interviewed with said the presentation was great, but some things that need improvement. I just don’t understand how it’s normal that it’s expected that you make presentations and work for free— just to have someone take a huge shit on you.

Everything used to pay $350k on target earnings. Tech is booming but I am noticing pay has dropped substantially despite inflation. I am seeing $300k ote and most roles are set up to not hit plan. Does anyone have insight here? It sends a clear message. Just thinking experienced sellers are going to leave or pivot because they follow the money and they are going to get less experienced sellers.

So I’m currently entering the 4th and final round of an interview process for a sales role.. The final round entails a sales pitch presentation where I present either a topic or product that I can confidently convey a persuasive message about.

The actual topic isn’t what’s important as it’s more about then actual skills show cased.. I’m currently struggling to decide on an easy topic that would suit well - between the topic and then any other words of advise I can use some tips for this !!

My company has always had SalesForce but it was not really a tool that we used or that anyone looked at. Over the last year my company has put more stress on growth (to be acquired or IPO) and they are now obsessed. I know it is important and necessary and my boss is clearly becoming stressed with our entire team. But I find it extremely hard to keep as up to date and in line with they new expectations, anyone have any advice on how they stay motivated with SalesForce? Thanks!

Looking for insights from any seller at any of the hold co’s. I have an opportunity to join a new team at a hold co but I’m not sure if it will be a great move to make. I’m doing very well where I am, book of biz is thriving, but the allure of working at a larger company than my small company seems like a great resume builder. I’m not sure where I want to be in 5 years, but this seems like a good way to make myself more appealing. I’ll have to rebuild my book of biz, which means pay cut.
