In my experience, if they consider you a very high contender in their applicant pool, is when the recruiting team proactively reaches out to you with positive feedback after touching base with the hiring team. I’ve also gotten calls where they want to check in and ask me how the interview went to see if I’m still engaged or have any concerns that they’d be able to address. The hiring experience is so skewed that you may experience things differently than others, so I say trust the process and your gut!

Same for me! Very quick follow ups after the interviews, calls rather than email, feedback:) it depends, but every time I got an offer it was within a day or two from the final interview:)

HR proactively reaches out to you vs you hounding them for updates. Politeness and patience increase as well when you’re a lead candidate.

I’m currently clerking at a small boutique firm. The work is real hands on and I interact with clients directly as part of my job. I just found out that one of the clients whose case I help manage is a partner at a V5 firm. Would it be wrong to use this as a networking opportunity?

How would you respond to this note sent home on my toddler’s daily report from her in-home daycare provider. Mind you she didn’t say anything to me in person about this. Plus my daughter started saying “no daycare, no friends” when we tell her it’s time to go / ask her if she wants to see her friends.

Anyone have tips for asking for more than you think you're worth? Because of the employment market there's a job which is about a 20K jump for me but it's been open for a year so I'm pretty sure I can get something additional out of them. Would it be appropriate to ask for 10K above the jump? Or should I just count my blessings and leverage my ability to underprice other applicants

Additional Posts in Interview Tips

I’ve had four interviews in the past week, and I’ve noticed that HMs and recruiters aren’t as serious as they should be: 1. They got up in the middle of the interview to answer the door. 2. Biting their nails throughout the entire interview while working on something else. 3. Mentioned that I need to be available 24/7 and can only offer a title less than I currently am because they don’t have a high budget. Is there anything that I can do stop this? Maybe consider another industry?

Just got a follow-up from an interview, after I gave notice I got another offer. The hiring manager said he was still looking for candidates because no one has stood out to him and that if I had given a follow up a little after the interview I might have been extended an offer. What should I do and how?

When interviewing - either as the interviewer or interviewee - what of you think of the recommendation to say things like "What a great question!" or "I'm really glad you asked me that!" I personally find this to be false flattery. As an interviewer it turns me off. And, as an interviewee I try to focus on real answers to the question.

But, perhaps others have had success with this approach.

I had an interview this morning and the hiring manager told me they had a hard stop at a certain time, but the interview went over that time by a couple minutes and they kept asking me if they could answer any other questions. How good of a sign is this or does it not mean anything?

Hello everyone, I messaged the program manager on LinkedIn regarding a job posting and had applied however I received an automatic msg from HR via email thanking and stated position filled. The PM replied to me over LinkedIn “sorry for the delay in responding. My team is currently all hired and I can keep you in mind for the next round as we are looking to expand in the new year.” Was this out of formality to reply back to me or will he really keep me in mind? My dream company…

Any thoughts on an interview coach? I seem to clear first rounds but not make thru second or third rounds...org change management specific roles, my resume is solid but idk what am I doing so wrong... Any ideas, tips?

Suppose you are 3 months pregnant and interviewing for a job. Would you disclose to the recruiter that you are expecting or is there no need to give that information until after being hired? As for the compensation, if you’ve already been told pre-interview, the salary range for the role, is it appropriate to negotiate a number for the salary if you are asked your desired salary in the first screening interview? Or should you try to hold off on the negotiation after you receive an offer?
