So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I did it, you learn as you go. Public gives you ability to have a ridiculous work ethic and problem solving ability and picking up things quickly, use to your advantage.
Wondering as well. No where near this level to make this type of jump but how do you convince your employer that you can be a controller without having any experience in industry and involvement in the closing process from start to finish? I know we audit it but I feel that the performing of it is quite different.
Making the jump from public to controller is a hard sell. People are skeptical about your ability to do month end close.
I would go in as a senior if I were you.
I was a senior accountant for one year and then ditched my company to be a manager elsewhere
I believe this as well which is why I don't really believe the message about staying until manager or staying until senior. Just stay until you can convince another employer you're capable of doing another job provided you get a great pay bump of course .

Interested to hear as well - wonder the same.
Really depends on what it is you are leaving for. I left for a low 9 figure revenue mid market private company that needed some serious executive vision and leadership from both a project management and internal controls perspective. Learning the GL system took some time, but overall I leaned on the people who had been there to carry me through the closes while I set up goals, controls, and projects for the first few years.
I would certainly say my experience with mid markets helped me immensely as I had seen every aspect of a business over my years in PA.
