Canon has been great for me. I started right out of college and I've been there for about four years now. I like the culture, WLB, and the pay is decent.

I quit drinking at the first of the year because I was drinking too much as a way to cope with Covid. 99.9% of the time, I’m glad I quit drinking. And then there are those nights when I just want a glass of something to take the edge off, which makes me think alcohol was more of a coping mechanism than I thought and it’s probably a good thing I’m not drinking. I don’t even like wine very much, but I miss that low level buzz that makes everything a little less loud.

Final round! Panel interview w an assignment to present some ideas on how to increase customers for 1 of 5 key audience segments.
I’m most familiar with 1 as it’s the audience I work with at current job. Not enough info/experience with other 2 segments. Remaining segments I know enough but not as confidently.

Will it look like I took the easy way out if I chose my segment? They know it’s my current audience and has been for 8 yrs. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Does anyone here work in book publicity/marketing?

I currently work in B2B marketing and have determined what I really want to do is market books, especially fiction. I'm looking for some insight into the industry to understand if it's possible to make the shift, and if so, what it will take.

If anyone's available to talk, please let me know! Would be very grateful for insights.

I wanted to spread a little positivity this Friday afternoon. I just started a new job after casually interviewing for several months at the start of the year to do a little research on the marketing job market, and then seriously interviewing/searching since May. After coming close with several other jobs but something always going wrong (low ball pay, role put on hold, etc.) I finally got THE job. I’m excited about it, I’m paid well, and fully remote. So don’t settle, and don’t give up! ✨

How do you guys handle someone else taking credit for your work?

A colleague keeps running point on my projects and regular work. I do 80% of the work (strategy + execution). Her involvement is much smaller yet she’s established herself as the main person for this area of marketing.

I have little visibility for my hard work and it’s frustrating nobody sees my contributions as “mine”. They ask her questions she then ask me. Bc we’re remote nobody sees what’s happening and I’m demotivated.
