What are some exit opportunities for transaction tax manager level CPA?

I come from a non-technical background, currently working as a project manager + associate product manager (20% project situation) at a SaaS company. I would really appreciate the input on my chances for a Program manager/ associate product manager role. Hello, I have been with the same company for 17 years. I am a supervisor for a laboratory in patient services. I worked my way up and currently have no degrees. Has anyone been able to work their way up in a company and then find a similar job with another company? I’m nervous that I’m stuck based on the fact that I don’t have a degree.

What to do if your SM is not competent and you feel project is falling behind? Can't really go to MD bc he has relationship with the SM. Also doesn't sound good coming from a consultant. Do I just need to work extra harder?
