What are some financial strategies that can help me save money & create passive income.
I am a future mother, and I am looking for different ways to improve my finances. I don't want to live paycheck to paycheck honestly.

I live in Albania - a western country in the Balkans/Europe

The best way to save money is to create a budget and stick to it. A lot of people who live paycheck to paycheck don’t actively monitor how they spend their money. Once you start documenting how your money is being spent and start curtailing unnecessary spending, you’ll start to see your savings add up.

My boyfriend wants kids. The only kids I want are the ones with fur and 4 legs. He loves them because he has nieces and nephews, but he doesn’t even wake up when our senior cat cries at night or throws up on the floor. I’m the one that hears it. Doesn’t make me feel hopeful that he’ll wake up when he hears a baby cry at night. He sleeps like a log.

Question for moms past the young toddler phase - at what age did you find your child could safely & independently play/entertain themselves for 30-60 minutes? My just-turned 2 y.o. can play fairly well independently for 5-10 minutes and of course needs to be very closely supervised for safety (he loves to climb).

Just trying to put in perspective when we may get to the next step of having a chance to do something while we know he is safe/playing on his own. Thanks!

I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.

A friend is considering deferring an offer (stem PhD) for 1 year straight out of undergrad to work in NY, either in a research institution or a biotech. She does not have any real work experience outside of her lab (3 years) and an adjacent internship. Another factor is she is just generally feeling burnt out on school after the last few years.
To what extent did you find that a year or two of work impacts prospects coming out of PhD? How might a year off from school impact her PhD work itself?

Are there any firms out there that actually let you take all your PTO? I hate that we have to make up our PTO to meet utilization targets. Been on a capped 40-hour project for the last two years and it’s had a terrible effect on my utilization.

Plus, any firms that don’t require more working for free (like all of our BS firm contributions here at D)?
