McKinsey and BCG consultants: how impactful would the difference between the two firm's flight policies (>90 mins business class for BCG vs >3.5hrs for McK) be to one's experience as a consultant? Do McK folks usually end up getting upgraded anyways as your flight status increases? Do BCG folk feel that the first-class perk provides them with a significantly better travel experience? Would love your thoughts :)

Target your school first. Current professors with connections, alumni, current students, you can even try and find any local companies or businesses that are doing business with or associated with the college in some way and reach out to people there. In terms of cold messaging or calling people, I think a well written message can push through abruptness and seeming insincerity. Just be honest and professional in your message, and don't ask them for anything right off the bat, just express your interest/admiration and introduce yourself.
You could do that. I'd also try to target some alumni from your school on LinkedIn. I connected with a few that way and they've been extremely helpful over the years.
Find out what you’re interested in and want to pursue and try to learn a ton about it. Then, find people you admire in that field and ask if they need an associate or someone who can help since you’re interested in a similar career. The best way to find a good mentor is by sharing a common goal.
You can reach out to alumni from your school that are on a similar path as the one you'd like to go on.
I go to a really small school but I’ll look into professors and alumni’s! I’ll also look into businesses already associated with my college! Thank you all for the advice. I think later on during my schooling I’m going to try and land an internship at a nearby business just to try it, see if I like it and get more familiar and comfortable with the business world.
You can check first the career services of your schools if they know someone. LinkedIn is also a good place to find mentors/coaches.
