Any tips for developing a book of business, particularly in management-side Labor and Employment? For example, any networking groups or organizations that have been helpful (and were they legal-related, general industry, or community groups like Junior League or non-profit Boards)? I’ve talked to some of the male partners in my group, and many of them got lucky through pre-existing relationships (college friends, brothers-in-law, etc.). I need to expand my network but want to maximize returns.

Hey friends, I’ve taken on our agencies community manager as a mentee, and am working with her to help her navigate working her way to becoming a Strategist. Thanks in advance!!
Hi Ladies! I’m transitioning to a manager of a team I’ve been leading. There’s been a lot of turnover with the team and I feel like I’m having a hard time getting the team to see me more as an authoritative figure. For example, when I ask for volunteers on a simple task, no one replies. Should I just resort to assigning rather than asking? Also are there leadership books you suggest that I could read up on? Thank you!

Left public accounting as an Audit Manager to take a Controller position in private. Realizing I don’t want to get stuck in a Controller position LT and would like to possibly be in FP&A if I stayed in private. Have always had an interest in FDD and I am considering leaving private for FDD. Any thoughts on this potential move & if it would improve my chances of getting into FP&A later on?

End goal in PE career? Let’s say you make it to MD at UMM shop. How is comp compared to let’s say F500 C-suite? I’d imagine both to be 10 - 30M, but a cushier rise in F500. Am I wrong? Just trying to figure out this giant rush by so many colleagues to the buy-side
Which career path will u choose for yourself and why? Options - 1) CXO of large tech co., like FAANG 2) partner with b4/mbb 3) CXO of a unicorn - like stripe or what Facebook was in 2006/2007, with a huge upside when it goes public 4) start a company of ur own that has a decent shot of becoming successful. How are folks thinking about permanent life insurance? 45, making let’s say for example (not my exact numbers): $1M per year, not yet vested in pension. Was thinking need to replace the post tax take home, about $550k NPV’ed at 5% to age 55, so that’s like $3.2M. Maybe pension is worth $2.5M so I think that means I should have $5.7 total you want death to have no financial impact. Also was going to do $1M of that in perm w/ LTC rider. Sound right?
