What are some of the agencies/clients in the federal space you've all liked working with the most and why? The office space, the people you worked with, the kind of work you were doing, whatever.

FDA has the best office space I’ve worked at. It’s a trek from DC though.

like

HUD. The agency leads the pack in audit findings, terrible HQ, and the toilets have foot pedals. Super nice people though, no ultra deep divide between contractor and fed unlike HHS where contractors are essentially Rattatouille and completely taken a shit on.

I could do without the constant medical puns though, e.g. “Dr. Carson’s prescription to increase HUD’s impact”

NASA is still the best/coolest client I’ve had 🚀

I work with a defense/security/justice agency (won't name specifics).
The one agency is very mission focused and we have lots of free reign to do whatever R&D we want as long as it benefits the mission. And the mission is "sexy".
Agency is a bit sclerotic but the client him/herself is very forward leaning and always positive

R&D do you make PowerPoints with recommendations? Cool

like

CDC

In DC or ATL? All projects I've worked with, seen or heard about are just staff aug or you're glorified tech support for some client. (All ATL work).

State Department, IC were great. DHS is a pit of despair (FEMA is decent)

Seconded

I did not realize for some trainings for compliance were not self-study, but live trainings. I worked at Deloitte and they were not live. I had two trainings due earlier this week and realized last week that only live trainings were available. I emailed KPMG and they assigned me the trainings take these live trainings. They emailed me that these overdue trainings will negatively impact KPMG. what are the potential consequences since I can’t even take them until June for one and one in September?

Tip passed on from my sister, for anyone looking at BAH:

Some of the jobs are open to anywhere in the US and have the Colorado salary range listed, so that can give you a general idea of what those types of positions might pay ahead of time. There's substantial variability, of course, but at least it gives you *something* to measure against.

Booz Allen Hamilton 🐠:

I've asked a few questions for my sister, passing another one along.

Is there defined promotion criteria from LA to SA? Or does it depend on admin chain, org, and/or politics?

She is looking at LA positions now as a potential comeback kid, and while she was at BAH 10+ years ago, she's forgotten the details, though they'd likely be severely outdated even if she remembered.

TIA!
