Well there are two issues of social justice to consider here. One is in the content, teaching about political and social values of justice, about democracy.
The other kind of social justice has to do with your pedagogy, how you teach, what you modeled in your interaction with students. I am convinced that there is a social justice pedagogy for math and science, it is not just an issue for social studies and English. It has to do with allowing a curriculums of curiosity, discovery, and questioning rather than an authoritarian approach of simply downloading information. The latter kind of teaching is boring to students, and to teachers! But a curriculum of questioning is more engaging, and admittedly a lot more work.
Take everything away from them and only give them what our homeless students have and they will get the idea very quickly.
