In same boat, looking to move out of jersey city but still want easy commute to NYC whenever offices open up
Lots of places in Mercer County! Princeton, Pennington, East and West Windsor, Lawrence, and Robbinsville. Less than 1 hour to Newark or Philly Airport and crazy good public and private schools.
Ahh, I am currently in Bridgewater area. But isn’t an hour to airport too much when u r commuting twice a week? I find it too much currently and looking to move further close to city or Close to EWR area.
Its a nice place, but not any cheaper. I would rather rent close to airport than live an hour away while I spend the same amount
Budget?
Depends on whether you need to be in a great school district.
Chatham has a really good school district and you pay for that through high taxes.
Westfield, New Brunswick, Morristown, Summit, Livingston, Metropark.
Property taxes in NJ are notoriously high. Good luck. 🍀
Property taxes may be high, but if you’re a parent (or having kids soon) keep in mind NJ has among the top rated public schools in the US.
Bergen County is both close to NYC and EWR. Start looking at towns within your price range there.
I just moved to NJ a few months ago; looked for the same thing. We settled in Verona; we love it here. Montclair is also very nice, small town feel.
Westfield
Loved living in Madison. Village feel, mixture of housing types, and access to highways/trains to NYC.
I am in similar position. I am thinking of Rahway - Woodbridge & Roselle Park areas. But still evaluating options
Why not Westchester County, OP? We moved from Manhattan 3 years ago and love it here. Check out close suburbs with lower taxes like Yonkers, New Rochelle, and Tuckahoe.
I find Westchester too expensive. I like metro north more than the NJ transit though
Somerset county is nice and you can get to EWR in under 45 min even during traffic.
