I did nothing for 5 months (it’s amazing how you can be invisible in consulting if you want to) and left as soon as I found a better job

I insulted the HR Manager’s outfit, gathered my things, and walked out.
“Oh, and pleather pants and a faux fur vest? Not a good look.”
Byeeeeeeeee! 👋
I was working on 4 engagements and was stressed out. I was working through whole of thanksgiving. Monday after thanksgiving, I came in scheduled a 10 am call with partner and just said I quit. They tried to convince me for almost an hour with three partners joining the call. I pretty much was done with it.
I’m glad you quit. That’s a ridiculous schedule. Would love to know if they actually listened to you -or just tried to keep you to save them time with opening a req. I left a role internally after I got pulled on a project that should have had another person. Worked an acetate of 90 hours a week for months. When I accepted my other role - my manager did the same thing and called me three times to convince me to stay. Sorry for the diatribe. I just know what this is like.
Shit you not I had a buddy who worked at a financial services firm for 2 years. One day he comes in high, sits down at his desk, logs on, and says “yea I can’t do this”. He stood up, put his badge on the table, and walked out with both middle fingers in the air never to return. He now works for a national brewery and is loving life, says it was one of the best decisions he ever made.
got my 1.03% EOY base increase comp statement. walked into my bosses office, threw the paper into the air, and told him to tell [the decision maker] that “i didn’t need this money and to keep his fucking 1%” and dipped for the day
Was fed up with empty promises and lack of raises at work. After finding another job and setting up a start date, took 1.5 months off to travel abroad using the newly instituted unlimited PTO and also long enough for my 401K match to vest.
Put in my 2-week notice on my first day back and coasted the remainder of the time.
