People who got promoted last year - how do you feel about it? I feel guilty given that most people didn’t even get a raise (in the UK). I find it hard to reconcile with the COVID gloom
Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Anyone work at or know someone who works at Epic that can refer me? I know they're going through deep stuff right now but it's my dream company and I'm absolutely willing to take a risk with their forced work from home policy.
Back on the market and I’m coming to find two things: 1. Less desirable agencies are the ones who want people back on-site soon, with no wiggle room for remote work. 2. These same agencies want to pay salaries based on COL in the city where the agency is based even if you’re working/living from another market in the interim. Example: Midwest based agency paying Midwest salaries to folks living in places like NY, SF, LA. 🧐🧐🧐🧐
Hey guys, I am currently in audit looking to pivot to FDD. I have about a year of experience in audit, and 6 months internship experience in private equity. Looking to leverage my experience in both audit and private equity in FDD. Don’t have a CPA but I have started studying. Looking to stay remote/west coast office. Open to connect with anyone further.
I remember online high yield savings accounts like Ally and Marcus used to offer APYs over 2.00% pre-covid. Nowadays they’re not even more than 0.5%. What the heck, I think the markets have more than recovered, why are these rates still so low.
I’m a first time mom with no mom friends and I was wondering what does your job/childcare situation look like? Do you work part time/fulltime? Do you always WFH and have help at home, or do you have access to family, daycare, etc. Trying to get some creative ideas before I head back into the office from mat leave. I should note I live on the complete opposite side of the country from my family, so no support other than my husband but he works full time too.
Has anyone recently requested for any IT asset from office ? Like monitor or something ? After weeks of struggle with ITS they have finally arranged one monitor for me. However, ITS is telling they are not shipping any assets and are asking me to come to office and collect. I am not very sure why they won't ship assets when we are still WFH.
Are virtual therapy sessions as effective as in person? I’ve never been to therapy but want to work on my anger issues because they’re only becoming worse as the Stress from life and Covid become worse. Has anyone started therapy virtually through the pandemic?
The baby in our nanny share had a cold and tasted negative for Covid. Now my baby has mild cold symptoms. Would you Covid test?
WFH set up tips? Currently looking into getting a standing desk, three monitors (one in portrait orientation), and using my laptop as just a CPU in a vertical laptop stand. Any tips on how to change/add on to this and/or products to buy? TIA!
Help - How are parents managing WFH with kids schedule? Looking for ways to share work calendars with spouse (not details but only slots) to manage work and life commitments but organisational settings are limiting us ☹️ any workarounds?
Chances that I can negotiate going 2 days a week into the office commuting from Sac to a firm in SF and WFH the remainder of the time?
If I ask for remote after accepting offer from Accenture, will they agree? If they do, will they reduce package??
What practice areas (if any) would be a natural move for a mid-level commercial real estate/finance associate? I started trying to leave my firm in February and, at the time, was super in-demand. Now, with Covid, commercial real estate is slow & I think I'll be stuck where I am for at least another year if I don't make a practice area shift. Are there any other practice areas where my experience would be valuable?
So everyone I know is experiencing high turnover lately, doesn’t seem like it will slow down anytime soon. How many do you think are just choosing to go freelance vs. another agency? Anyone else seriously considering the plunge? Seems like freelance is pretty much staying remote which would be nice...
When should I tell my boss/team that I’m expecting? I’m fully remote and don’t have to worry about “showing” at work, but want to give my colleagues ample heads up without jumping the gun too soon
If you’re in LCOL or MCOL, is your firm losing people to California firms offering remote work and California wages? I know some have left for Seiler; Citrin Cooperman; CohnReznick; Abbott, Stringham, and Lynch; Frank Rimerman; Green Hasson Janks. Just curious if it has affected your office at all and if you left for one of those firms, what is your experience so far?
Getting a nanny .... my husband and I are looking to hire a nanny for our 7 month old, our 3 y/o goes to pre-school. We've had nannies previously for our 3 y/o but they were both referred by friends. The one we are looking to hire now is our first from Care.com. Does anyone have any advice as to what we should be on the lookout for? My husband and I both work from home, but I can't help my anxiety about not knowing her, the background check was light in information, and I want to make sure he's safe
Today marks 6 months since my dad died from Covid. Thinking about all of you who lost loved ones during this difficult time
Anyone here work for/has previously worked for Visa Inc? Can anyone share with me about the culture, web, etc? Thanks!
Which agency offers the most time off?
I am a Chemical Engineer with 2 year experience in Market Research in Chemicals and CPG domain. Currently looking to pivot into Climate Change & Sustainability practices. Are Big 4s hiring for these positions currently, and would they consider a profile like mine for these roles?
United lost my son's car seat on a 3 hr flight. It was registered as a checked luggage with the proper csrseat tag and everything. After following up with an agent after we landed, they said it stayed in EWR and they are working to get it shipped to me in the next day or so while I'm on vacation. Anyway to get points for the inconvenience, I'm Premier platinum if it matters. They did give me a free loaner carseat until mine arrives but it's kinda crappy tbh.
Looking at the way people are laid off, utilization is just one part of it. It's so hard to pin point what is (proper consultants let go from projects, etc..)
Strategists never get fired. Next to Account. Creative and production are chopped first. To make the insult worse, Strategists get hired faster everywhere. Perceived value is everything.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-03-22/bosses-are-clueless-that-workers-are-miserable-and-looking-to-leave?srnd=premium Wonder what the numbers would be for consulting - naturally higher because the tenure is low to begin with but curious on what it would be above that due to the pandemic and WFH.
I'm interviewing with McKinsey for a partner role. Any pointers on the type of questions I can anticipate? Thanks in advance!
Could anyone share some insight on compensation for manager roles in financial reporting and/or technical accounting? Curious to see what people have jumped for when they left PA for these types of jobs.
Maybe one or two of the reporters pretending to care about Biden’s answer to court rebalancing because they’re bored of a blowout race could ask the president or senate republicans about the president of the United States believing that Barack Obama and Joe Biden murdered Seal Team 6. https://twitter.com/UrbanAchievr/status/1316118694385385473?s=20
Just found out I’m pregnant (only 5 weeks so still a bit to go before I tell anyone really). After I’m farther along and everything is confirmed with doctors, when do I start telling people at work? Due in mid May.
Has anyone here started a non-profit org/ been a board member of one, in USA on H1B? Pls DM w/ your suggestions including immigration attorneys I should talk to. Really want to setup one for a philanthropic cause but google searches call it out as unlikely.
If anyone is looking to join a fast growing healthcare tech company please let me know! We’re on a big hiring push over the coming weeks, ranging from engineering roles, client services, account management, product management, and HR.
Has anyone moved from accounting to a totally different role? Did SALT at a Big 4 and now do PE/hedge accounting for a large administrator, but thinking I want to switch to HR or CSR consulting?
