I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.
NYC vs SF b4 salary ? Which one is higher?

Can someone explain what a carve out is?
Is turnover right now really historically bad?
I went internal audit and it was way better then external. I got the pay bump, got to travel extensively, no busy season, and got to know a company from the inside...which I then used to propel myself into another role that I was more interested in. Also in both my internal audit roles I did not prepare any work papers for external auditors. I would just look for a company that values internal auditors and sees growth (ie ask what growth opportunities there are for IA). My one company the CFO started in IA.
Second this. And if I’m being realistic the keyword you’re looking for when trying to route this out is operational audits. The less SOX you do and the more operational auditing you do the more visibility and exposure you get within an organization. This helps when pivoting internally out of audit, it also helps getting an in depth understanding of other operational roles so you can assess what could be good fits for you if you want to move out of audit. I also think operational audit frequency is directly correlated to how valued the IA department is in the org.
Sincerely, IA at a bank that just got released from a consent order. Spends his entire day doing audit work completely unrelated to financial accounting and gets C level visibility on a weekly basis.
IMO idk if I would do this. I imagine there’s a pay bump involved which is appealing. But long term idk what your play is. Internal auditors seemingly have an even more boring job than external auditors. Many a time there just preparing the work papers that they then send to the external auditor. Idk. When I leave I want a pay bump but also to feel a bit more excited about where I’m going.

Internal audit is like the uglier sister of external audit. Maybe it'll be fun for one night but not a long term play
I think it’s worth it if you go to a strong, respected IA department. It’s not worth it if you go to one that just does Sox. Especially if you join one that is a management development program
The last sentence: you’re saying that is a good thing if they bring you in for a management development program, right?
