What are some reasons to decline a second interview? I recently interviewed for an Internal Audit role but I didn’t feel like the pay range matched the job. This IA role is for a small credit union and you’ll be the only IA. It’s a new role they came up with this year as different departments would have a a role at different audits. Their pay range is 65K - 75K DOE.

I would still take the interview and try to negotiate for higher salary

like

How much are you expecting for this role?

Would you take the job for $10K more? If not, then just tell them you don’t think it’s a fit and move on. If they ask why, just say you think the comp is low for the job and see what they say.

Alternative view - do you like the company size and industry? If so, then consider giving it a shot if you can financially do it and don’t have better options. Sometimes you have to put in your dues. You’ll get great experience and can leverage that for a higher paying job. Bc in reality, if they were willing to pay more, they’d probably be shooting for more experience on your side too.

My friend is in his first job out of college at a tech company. He started 3 months ago and is in a very toxic environment as well as has to commute/be in the office everyday. His title is “Inside sales” and his pay is very low(no commission), he does tons of work and is expected to stay late (no overtime) on top of the 8:30-5:30.
What is the minimum amount of time to stay at a role he absolutely hates because he needs to write it on his resume?Any advice to cope?

I’ve been with my current company for just over 6 months as a BDR. (3 yrs prior sales experience, but this is my first tech role.)
Even though it meant starting at the bottom, I took this role for the opportunity it would provide, as my previous industry didn’t have growth potential.
A role just opened up on a CSM team that would be a much better fit— the official policy is that you stay in your role for 12 months before moving. Should I apply for the CSM opening anyway? What would you do?

Hi Fam,

Looking at leaving audit, for a financial analyst and small Corp Dec roles for small corps.

A few of the roles ask for financial modelling, but I'm unsure if it is DCF (per my old finance classes) and need IB level type work or just quick and easy excel modelling for sensitivity/variances from different parameter changes.

Seems like a vague term.

Would love to get some insight on people who perform financial modelling in their work and had it in their position description.

Thanks

Looking for carreer advice. I recently was promoted as outsourced Jr. Controller after a being in the company for only 7 months. 100% remote which is nice, but since I am in California the pay is just not enough. I'm also not fully enjoying the work I do, as it is 100% accounting vs before where I did a hybrid withbusiness development. Vibe I'm getting is that internal transfers are a sink or swim situation at the Big 4 vs an external hire where there's better onboarding/training/etc.
