Maybe focus living close to the commuter rail rather than the T if you want to spend less but be able to come in easily. Assuming you have a car. Westwood and Dedham come to mind.
Or Roslindale and West Roxbury.
Malden is the only possibility with that budget if you need proximity to the T.
Cannot speak to exact prices, some neighborhoods to consider - Brighton, Allston, Medford, Malden, East Boston.
A few areas to consider: Adams Village / Lower Mills, Roslindale, Hyde Park, West Roxbury or Readville. Outside of Boston, Malden or Quincy are on the T; A few bedroom communities to consider include Medford, Melrose, Waltham .
Newtonville. It’s great. Access to 90 and commuter rail. Getting more and more restaurants.
Thanks all! Also curious about what areas I should avoid?
Avoid the entirety of Boston's southern 2/3rds (Dorchester, Roxbury, Roslindale, Mattapan etc.).
Try some places in Quincy? There’s a brand new apartment building right at the North Quincy station.
Check out Woburn, 10 miles to the city, cute down town and most amenities you’d want in your 20-30’s close by. Quite areas too
Try Quincy, it's a quick subway ride into the city. Plus it's near the beach and blue hills if you like to hike. I loved Highpoint apartment and paid $2000 for a two bedroom two bathroom. I'm sure non luxury apartments would be less.
