What are some strategies for reducing taxes on investments? I'm 22 and have been maxing out Roth IRA and 401k but have cash I want to start investing in a brokerage so now taxes are a consideration.

D1 is not wrong but a lot of investment vehicles make no sense at low levels of wealth or income. For example the return on municipal bonds is directly related to your income tax bracket. For a young saver, stock and bond funds are all you need

like

You don't pay taxes until you sell (realize gains)

like

HSA lets you stash extra money tax free

Does Roth IRA phase out at 60 or 65???

Doesnt***

If you have cash you don't need to see for a long time, and you've already maxed out 401k and IRA, taxable gains (that you defer until you sell) on stock are bearable. Other asset classes include real estate and muni bonds that have special tax considerations. And don't forget whole life insurance -- it's got an investment vehicle buried in there, plus you get insured.

Try betterment, they have a tax algorithm that reduces your tax burden plus it's allowed by PwC since it's all index funds

Honestly...if you're maxing out both at 22, you're golden. Are you really rolling in a lot of extra cash to invest?

D2 OP can't be rolling in too much cash, the fact that OP is still allowed to contribute to Roth IRA indicates being below certain income thresholds, OP must just be awesome at minimizing costs (an impressive achievement!)

If yes what are the pay benefits (if any).
The response will help me in deciding if I should invest my efforts or not in "Innovator" cadre.

Does anyone have a name for what I'm looking for? Essentially, I'm looking for a resource to give to clients that really need to assess their current benefits and pay structure (and pay equity) in comparison to other organizations in the market and to provide the results and a roadmap of how to get where they need to be in order to retain and attract talent. Something like an HR Turnaround Consultant but I'm sure there is a better name?

22 years old. I have $22k in an index fund, 12k in savings/emergency fund, and 2k in 401K. No debt. Interested in buying a rental property in 5ish years. Any one have tips or advice?

Play around with single stocks? ETFs? CDs? Or just keep dumping most of my money into the index fund and a little into savings?

Seeking advice - have 2 competing offers. First opportunity is in consulting (ACN) and the other is in industry with similar responsibilities as consulting. Industry opp company is a startup. I’ll have to take a cut of $13k in base + bonus + 401k match in industry vs consulting offer. Industry opp is at a Director level for strategy & operations and involves client management. Would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

I am debating on accepting a new role. It pays significantly more than I make now but they do not offer paid maternity leave. My current job does. They stated that I would have to use short term disability (which only covers a portion of my pay) and all PTO/Sick leave. I am hoping to start trying this year but, I want to make sure that I am covered. My spouse is a teacher so there’s no way he could cover things in case of an emergency. Any experience with pregnancy and not paid maternity leave?

Omnicom agencies, can you speak on benefits (pto, insurance, sick time, summer days/friday). Thanks!

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

Not really a law question but social decorum.

I moved to a new city, let's say LA. I am originally from Atlanta. I always ask people I meet in the office "so are you from here?" in our introductions just to break the ice. However, I feel sometimes that I think non-white individuals have a cringe moment.

Is it inappropriate to ask this? I'm not looking to justify anything, I want to learn if I should not ask this anymore.

Hey community! Would love to hear your experience: I used to be super productive and work obsessed but after some changes in my personal life I’ve become totally disconnected, to the point that some days I can’t complete ANYTHING from my to-do list at work. My boss is supportive, my team is great. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, currently medicated. I feel so guilty and ashamed for not being productive to the point I’m considering quitting but idk if it’ll help and I need the $$.
