I realized today that I’ve been struggling with my anxiety and depression more than usual recently. It’s hard for me to accept because for once, I’m not anxious about work - I’m finally somewhere where I’m doing what I love with good, smart people and a team culture that actually puts its money where its mouth is re: work/life balance.
But today I realized that my recent sadness and anxiety has nothing to do with me and my life at all - (cont’d in comments)

Did anyone here get sober and discover they were potentially self medicating symptoms of a neurodivergent brain? Ever since I got sober, I’ve have had MORE issues with executive functioning, racing brain, inability to focus. This was unexpected, as I thought I’d have more mental agility due to the fog lifting. Now my brain is running at full speed but I am unable to harness it. My brain is a honey badger. It doesn’t GAF.
Anyway, I’m now scheduled for an ADHD eval at the urging of my therapist.

My parent ended up in an emergency room and is admitted to a hospital. They need a surgery for broken leg. I requested hospital transfer but current hospital refused to transfer my parent to another hospital of our choice. They said they can discharge us to rehab or home (home is apparently against medical advice now). How can I leave this place and go to the hospital of our choice? Ask for discharge and transportation home and then from there call 911 and ask to be taken to requested hospital?🙏🏻

Running shoe recommendations? I need something that provides a lot of support (knee/IT band issues), and if possible, a shoe with a lacing mechanism that won’t put pressure on the top of my foot. The only shoe that doesn’t cause pain on the top of my foot is the Nike Infinity React, but heel slippage is a big problem. I’ve tried ladder lacing techniques and that hasn’t helped. Recommendations would be great.

Just how bad would it be to quit without a two week notice? I’ve been bait & switched into a horrible role, overworked to the point of having medical problems, and no amount of diplomatic talks with my manager has improved the day to day. My mental health and my personal relationships have been on a steady decline.

I don’t have another job lined up yet. But I’m danger close to quitting and taking my chances with freelance. Could it be worth it?

I’m an HR Generalist. My job is a mix of recruitment and Employee Relations. I find the recruitment aspect to be pretty enjoyable and stress free, but the Employee Relations aspect does often give me a lot of anxiety (I’m a very anxious person to begin with). Recently, it’s been worse because I have several ER cases currently that seem like they could be potentially turning into lawsuits. Do others in ER experience these anxieties? If so, how do you manage them?

I just got promoted but feel like I can’t celebrate. I got broken up with a few weeks ago so I don’t have the person I thought I’d be celebrating with. I’m still anxious about Covid 19 and what the winter will look like. I’m scared for my friends with upcoming layoffs. I have no idea if I’m living in the right city anymore. 10 years of experience in PA (staff->senior->supervisor->manager)
PA firm is around 100 people

One thing I like about my firm is that, if your intern sucks? You can just say they suck and they’ll get pulled off your job so you can focus on being efficient. I put considerable effort into 1: he’s never available, never finishes anything, never takes notes, doesn’t follow through on communication ever, zero initiative, and refuses to talk to anyone except 1 staff associate even when specifically directed otherwise. I can’t push pull or drag him if I tried (and I did). I don’t feel bad.
