Imitating their email sign off is a subversive pleasure of mine. If they write "Kind regards", I do the same, "Best,"? Samesies. Will keep doing until I get my soul back

A2, yup, down to whether there’s a period or not. Same for Tks.

Working from home and exercising or even just taking a walk mid-day.

Always having a vacation booked so you have something to look forward to (I aim for 1 week every quarter rather than 1 or 2 longer vacations.)

If you have a partner, planning nice dates and weekends.

I play video games. It's my way of escaping reality, like how other folks binge watch a TV show or read books.

Being able to provide for my family

likeuplifting

My family can have nice things and awesome experiences. We can go on great vacations. My wife can work if she wants to (currently working part time to bridge the gap until our kids go to grade school then will jump back into her career). I legitimately like 99% of my colleagues. I work with smart and talented people and clients. The flexibility of the job is nice too where I can essentially choose who I work with/for. I can also usually choose when I work in case I want to take a Friday afternoon off and take my kids to a baseball game or the zoo, and then work when they go to bed.

Gardening, riding my horses, playing with my dogs, seeing my nieces and nephews, laying in my pool and reading

Perpetually online shopping. I am on first name basis with the three posties that do the rounds in my suburb and the people who work at the local post office.

funny

Trying new restaurants, going for a walk, getting an intense workout or peloton ride in, a perfectly executed cocktail on a Friday evening, spending time with my partner and our pet, reading non-legal writing, catching up on my favorite shows,

Music! Generally go to one event a week and dance it out

Same here…but after getting both COVID and the flu this year (both following weekends at concerts), I’m scared to continue lol

Recently got in a relationship with this girl for a few weeks and we’ve had our differences because we’re two very different people learning about each other / trying to find a middle ground. She broke up with me last night saying she doesn’t have the emotional energy to dedicate to the relationship and is just walking away instead of putting in the work that a relationship requires. She doesn’t seem like she knows what she wants - after the talk, she said she has strong feelings for me and wjll

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's ALM in Management. They both have the same requirements (generally speaking) including a capstone course that serves as a field immersion course with the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

Starting to feel like spring!

My project client location in Denver started in person mandatory days. Few of colleagues started to go there. I’m confused as I was hired as PDM and I live in east coast and project is in west coast. My leadership is not forcing me anything and they left it to us but I don’t want to lose job because I’m not traveling. Any suggestions?

That said what a sad mess we have gotten ourselves into when we try and censor every dissenting opinion as hate speech, especially when Joe Rogan has exhibited more journalistic value than most major news networks.

I'm at a career juncture and have decided on a career in anti-money laundering as my new path. I'm also highly interested in additional education to further my career and am eyeing graduate school. Which is best? A law degree or a master's in international relations? Those are where my interests lie. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!

Does anyone else feel like the term “manage up” has been twisted from meaning “try to set expectations for your availability and process” to “do both your job AND the partners job?” So many partners just ignore email requests and pings until everything is last minute or on fire. When I mention this in any sort of review “manage up” is normally what I hear back, in some form or another.

There’s always a Delaware entity in every financing deal so there’s always a need for a Delaware opinion. Why don’t more big firms open tiny offices there and just keep that stuff in-house rather than refer it one the shops there? No offense to RLF, Dorsey, Morris Nichols, etc.

Anyone else just sitting around waiting for the ax to drop? I'm a soon to be 2nd year corporate associate who has seen work completely dry up. My utilization held pretty steady around 50% immediately after shutdown, but August was below 15 billables with no appreciable work in the pipeline. Aside from letting people know I'm available and doing pro-bono/CLE, it's starting to feel like a serious "covidcation" leading to termination.
