What are some things you do to get out of a funk?

I do things that bring me joy and give myself permission to be totally in the moment and not bring the “funk” into that. I’m old, so my activities might not be drinking myself into oblivion, but things that make me feel love for myself, gratitude, joy and connectedness with my fellow humans (not necessarily just my inner circle of peeps) and the planet (get out in nature. The big key is to be fully present.

Volunteer, hang with pets/animals, kids, or the elderly who are free from the daily grind and self-imposes problems, garden, cook, do something artistic - create, watch a funny movie and laugh out loud. Do something fir someone else - get out of yourself. Exercise. Self care.

Chakra and energy alignment helps me, too but that might be too “woo-woo” for some.

Depends on the length of said funk. Recently I’ve been really into jogging whilst on a white claw buzz. Mask on.

Find a song that hypes you up. Mine is Ludacris - Get Back

It doesn't fix everything. But having a moment for anger scream singing releases tension you didn't know the body needed to get rid of. And go all out with it. Body flailing and all.

Just go outside and walk. Just do it. Feel the sun, move your body, and stay safe.

Seriously, running and the other things people are saying are hard when you’re battling depression or a “funk”. Just walk. Make a goal to walk half a block a day. Half a block, you can do it. If you go more, perfect, but the half a block will develop the habit

Take a half day from work, and do something you enjoy, in covid times, you might be limited but there’s tons, Hikes, Bike rides, reading a book. Anything expect what you might be doing during covid, watching movies all day, playing video games, etc. I also said half day from work, because it gives you that peace for that half day of not worrying about work. Hope this helps.

Take a day off of work (preferably a Friday or Monday), turn off your phone or put it on silent, and do something that you enjoy. I would play golf or do something else outside, but YMMV.

Does anyone have a reliable security contact who can check on clearance status and history? I’m currently not utilizing my clearance and heard you have two years before it becomes permanently inactive. I haven’t hit the two year mark yet but someone I know (don’t really trust) told me my clearance isn’t showing up. Need to find out why/what happened as it usually lasts 24 months since inactivity. This info would be helpful for job searching/interviewing but don’t want to rely on recruiters.

I just found out that after a mutual family agreement not to, my little brother is dropping his kid off at my mom’s for overnights. My mom has diabetes, high blood pressure and COPD. We miss her but have been staying away to protect her. Now my mom says she doesn’t care about the virus anymore. I have no relationship with my brother because he’s an abusive narcissist-but should I just respect my mom’s wishes and let me kids visit-knowing she has accepted this virus to be her fate?

I'm grounded cause my husband traveled. Under a new order, returning travelers must quarantine 10 days and they should isolate from others in the household, even wear masks at home. Husband is about to return from a work trip, & he's not on board. So to stay "clean" and able to go out myself, I plan to sleep in my home office for HIS quarantine, with my air purifier on, and mask up if we are in the same room. Ridiculously inconvenient, but I do not feel it's ethical to risk infecting others.
