What are some underrated spots in DC to explore?

Hi all, when are the best and worst times to look for new projects in the year in federal? I'm still relatively new in this industry and I'm thinking about leaving my project soon but I'm paranoid about project availability. I don't want to be on the bench for too long because I was on the bench for about 2 months when I first joined.

Started a new job back in January. Creative Director, a team of 7. Went back & fourth in negotiating. Offered 110k. Asked for 120k, settled on 115k. I even threw in that I was taking a hit with benefits, needing to pay 5k more as compared to my position I was leaving. That’s how I got it to 115k. At my annual I plan to address again, in partnership with the impact this position will have made this past year. What do other creative directors earn, if you don’t mind sharing? Industry av says 136k

WWYD? My partner wanted a pet but I did not. Partner got a cat anyways and now I feel resentful about partner’s lack of respect for my feelings in this. The cat wakes me up throughout the night bc of its meowing, “hunting moods”, and hunger, etc. that ONLY happens at night. Otherwise, I would never even know the cat is there. It’s affecting my sleep & I’m growing more resentful bc I never wanted to be a pet owner. How can I navigate this?

Know someone at McKinsey who knows that I’m well qualified for roles there, but we’re not on the best terms. Is it worth it to ask them for a referral/ask them to direct me to other McK folks who could refer me? Worried that if they knew I was interested and they haven’t moved on from past disagreements that they could tell the recruiter to throw out my app/blackball me from the firm.
