What are some ways to get into Project Mgmt?
Background: Currently in Finance Ops, but PM has always intrigued me/seems to fit my personality and skillset. Plus the $ isn't bad either, from what I've heard. Looking to go for my MBA as well very soon, track is TBD.

If you're dead set on doing the MBA, stay where you're at. Ops at Morgan Stanley/general financial industry should pay off huge longer term. There's no direct benefit to having an MBA as a PM.

Most experienced professionals are project managers to an extent so even if you aren't technically not a PM there are potentially some skills you already have. Are there workflow/PM tools you can use for your current role that can parlay into an associate PM role? I'd start with looking into how you can use Kanban, maybe checkout Asana for example. Search for PM roles that focus in the finance arena.

Do a PM course. The project management institute (PMI) has various based on your level of experience or do Prince2. If you can get your company to pay for it then better but it's your career so it pays to invest if the company doesn't. You also mention MBA 'soon' so how soon is that? I wouldn't personally do both in quick succession. Project management is more tactical and doing an MBA is learning to view a business in a more strategic way

I plan on starting in the Fall! I don't have to commit to a track until much later though.

Finance + PM play extremely well together. If you can find a few opportunities to show off your organizational and communication skills, you can use that as PM experience on your resume. Even volunteering to organize a company outing or endeavor counts.

1. You don’t need an MBA to be a PM. Waste of resources. In fact, I wouldn’t get an MBA unless I knew without a doubt that it would directly impact my career path and was required by a specific employer. Otherwise, it’s a money trap.
2.PM is so broad. You should decide what industry you want to work in first. If it’s still finance great. You’ll find it easier to get in where you already fit in. If it’s creative, tech etc. you should try to align your experiences with those industries as much as possible when developing your resume/LinkedIn and take free courses and certificates. Then, find entry level PM roles within the industry you choose.

I want to work in Marketing, but also have an interest in Tech. Honestly the only reason I'm not 100% for Marketing is because the pay tends to be pretty low and I just cannot afford that.. lol.

I've been thinking the same, currently doing some basic project management for some packaging and web design. Seems like there's a lot of want for ui/ux project management and the big companies so I've personally been leaning toward that.

Interviewing for 4ish months now for a FED role. Always make it 2-3 rounds but never ending in an offer. I have a BFA in Web Design, but I wonder if it's worth returning to school for a Master's in Computer Science. I'm leery on bootcamps because they don't teach real world/practical use cases, at least the ones I've heard about. The firsthand(?) experience I have w/ a bootcamp grad, claims to be full stack but didn't know how to troubleshoot HTML/CSS, nor knew how to use Dev Tools/Inspector.
