What are some ways your team is staying connected? As we know HR is always taking care of the business, so I am curious how HR has been taking care of themselves during this time. Thanks!

We are doing meditation together, have 30 min calls to catch up twice a week, and do Netflix Parties once a week.

I am taking the time to learn how to balance work and headspace. I am reading The Productivity Project by Chris Bailey.

Also, I am reading books that don’t have to do with business or strategy. It’s so neat to jump into a topic that is new and different.

This all sound like a good idea. We are planning to do happy hour Video chat.

We do virtual watercooler chats from time-to-time.

We do 30 min weekly coffee talks via video to talk about things we are doing to keep ourselves engaged while in quarantine. Whether that be learning a new language, meditation etc. We also have fun seeing each others kids!

I think where you can make it personal is where it’s been best. We’ve done house tours, show and tells, happy hours, met each other’s kids and pets, etc via zoom. But zoom fatigue is real so it can easily go overboard. Giving people the option to turn off cameras when they feel like it is important too.

Let’s say you’re looking to transform your fitness - lose weight, tone, stay generally healthy. I know diet is more important than exercise. Would you then first focus on your diet and build sustainable changes before getting to exercising? Or would you do both but focus more on diet? If the latter, how do you avoid getting overwhelmed with so many changes? And this is for a long-term ‘feel-good’ kinda lifestyle, not just for immediate weight loss

All, this is my first post and I just want to share that I passed the first Amazon interview for Technical Program Manager and am heading to on-site virtual interviews! I have 20 years of corporate tech in a traditional F500 company (top 50). The only thing I can say that I like about my current job is the work-life balance and some of the people. But the work itself is soul crushing and the industry is stagnant. To those who are 40+ years old, is it crazy to change now?

Hey ladies!
Curious how you would handle this. I got someone close to me a director role at my company. I pulled alot of strings to make this happen. I’m on my way out and would love an opportunity at her current company but the best they can do is tell me to apply and see how that goes. How would you process this? Is it business as usual or you’d feel hurt. I go hard for my loved ones but when it comes to me it’s… meh you’re on your own and good luck!

I cleared 2 rounds of interviews with CGI. The very next day someone from the management team called me up and very readily agreed with me for my expected salary. He said he shall quickly ask the HR team to process my offer letter.

And it's been a week since I haven't heard from anyone. Neither CGI asked me docs nor any HR called me.

What shall I do now? I am currently under the Notice Period.

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.
