Peace and quiet when you want it. Have company when you want. Live where you want. No one else’s mess to be around. Plenty of other reasons depending on your relationship

Nobody ever finished the basement so they have their own apartment and back yard? Just me? My basements nicer than the rest of the house and better than any apartment I could get. I throw parties here all the time.

+ You’re no longer a stereotype of your generation, and a leach on your parents. - Less money to spend on hookers, booze and drugs.

Accenture 1 will probably be able to answer that. So Accenture 1, how much did you spend on hookers and booze while living at your parent’s?

Freedom, independence and privacy.

You can do that at your parents house too.

Hot take: stay as long as you can. You can do the coke/sex stuff later, don’t rush it

Self pleasure without fear of knocking.

That really depends on your parents. If you have no problem doing lines of coke in the kitchen counter. Banging in the living room, smoking in your room, cooking steak at 2 am, and eating ice cream for breakfast... then there are no real benefits of movinf drom your parent's place.

I lived at my parents for years. To some degree, it limited my growth as an adult (socially, romantically, basic skills like cooking), but my financial savings (and lack of debt) are super strong. If you’re a guy, you’ll be an ineligible bachelor to most women. Can’t say the same if you’re a woman (but I’m not credible on this)

likehelpful

True. No woman wants to date a guy who still lives with his parents.

Getting laid.

Ask your parents. I’m sure they have a list.

funny

None, stay there until you move on from this world. What a life!

Looking for advice. Just started new job that allows Roth 401k. I have a previous traditional 401k worth about 50k and a Roth IRA worth about 40k. I’m 26 and make 150k total this year. My new company allows for mega backdoor to Roth IRA. Should I rollover my old 401k to an T-IRA or rollover to my new employer? How should I split my new contributions between traditional and Roth 401k? Should I mega backdoor after tax to my Roth IRA? Thanks in advance.

My wife and I would like to retire at age 50 (or earlier). We’re in our early 30s. We’ve been maxing out 401ks and IRAs for years and started contributing 20k a year into a taxable account to start filling the gap since we can’t access 401k until 55. At what point should we be reducing 401k/IRAs and redirecting to the taxable account? Otherwise our income balloons late in life. Curious how others are managing this.

Opinions Wanted My Dad passed away recently and my Mom finally heard back on the value of his Deloitte pension. Around 350k. Combined with life insurance and retirement this puts my Mom in a much more comfortable position than she was expecting and mentioned she wants to use some of the money to pay down my siblings and my remaining student loan debt as she holds a lot of guilt that we had to take loans at all. Between 25-50k for each of us. Would you take the money?

It seems that common advice after getting your emergency fund, is to max out 401k, then IRA. But 401k limits are relatively high at $19500. Is that really where I should be putting all of my money prior to investing in my IRA, or should I invest only what my employer will match? I feel like if I aim to max out 401k limits, I’ll never touch my IRA.

Some call it quitting on your team, U.S. Gymnastics are calling it mental health issues. I'm calling it something more specific related to sports psychology: the yips. It's bad athletic performance having the yips, but when continuing can turn you into the next Elena Mukhina, backing out is the right call. Alternate history: Simone continues on, manages not to break her neck, but absolutely s**ts the bed and is criticized for taking the US off the podium when knew she wasn't on her game.

Meanwhile got approached by a number of recruiters for a) smaller emerging startup <but need to shift geo>, and b) major banks for in-house strategy. I’ll proceed with interviews with a) since it will give me a flavour of tech recruiting, but should I even go through with interview process for b)? Thoughts? Fyi, have not interviewed in 4+ years!
