Is a post-PhD gap year to travel and be reminded of what life is like a bad idea?

Have you been able to save up lately? I’ve been doing a lot of $500-700+ weekend trips (rent car, airbnb) to remote areas, buy more alcohol and order in more to compensate for “not going out”. I’ve spent all that I’ve saved in the first three months of quarantine :(

My India salary was less (13 lpa) and I was only getting promises for travel. Finally I decided to resign and got an offer (28 lpa). Now my company is saying there is a ready to move position in another project. But, things have changed, my wife is pregnant and I feel like my parents need me more as they are dependent on me. I started a new company in August as a recruiter. After a month I was moved into a Talent Acquisition Manager position.
