What are the best certification/training courses/conferences for someone in TA looking to gain more experience in HR? The goal is to gain more experience in the cross-overs areas between TA and HR; internal hiring, promotions, handling basically employee conflicts, Work Authorization, onboarding, basic employee law and benefits (as they relate to TA). Thank you!

Based on experience in both areas, I’d recommend obtaining a SHRM membership to have learning environment with updates and resources including webinars. Additionally, seek a PHR or SHRM certification to give you the foundational knowledge all areas of HR or you can consider an HR university certification course.

I’ve heard great things about eCornell but costly. Several people in our DEI function have taken courses and certs.

Hello small business owners! How many of you have an exit plan in place to harvest the wealth you’ve built and make sure your family is taken care of? Stats show that the vast majority of business owners have never thought to make a plan.

I got a call for a Java position. I told them I do not develop in Java. I do JavaScript with React. He says “oh yes, that is what the client wants”. So I sent my resume. When he sent the confirmation email it stated Angular/Java. I told him that I don’t have much Java skills. He then sent this (pic) as a response. 🤔🤔🤔
When I spoke to the client she had no idea why the recruiter added angular react as it was just a Java developer position, Completely wasted so much time

Bare in mind turnover is inevitable, so I something financial realistic that can be done time & time again.

What does "unlimited" PTO really mean? Accepted an in-house position. What's an acceptable amount of vacation time to take per year? (I'm coming from private practice where I could take vacation whenever I wanted as long as I hit my billables). Generally, I take two 1.5 week vacations a year and a smattering of long weekends (like a Friday or Monday off here and there). Obviously will not take that much time in the first year of a new job, but hope to get back to it. Reasonable?

I am now being pushed to take up as a TL because of my performance and contribution to the project management. However i feel with just 2 years of experience if i take the position i might have to stay much longer in the company than i intend to as a minimum requirement for position of TL elsewhere is 4 years of experience as associate. Also what is the salary slab one should get as a TL?

If I prefer coding should I keep going down the data analytics road or not so much? I am currently an "analyst" for an extremely small business with not a ton of data to sift through + I have done a tiny bit of coding for their website. I like it well enough but doing more coding and figuring out how things work out behind the scenes seems like it would be fun. Which do you recommend? Thank you!

Hi fellow PE fishes, seeking career advice.
Currently in an APAC based LMM/MM PE focusing on tech and had joined the firm straight out of school. I intend on sticking to PE long term, but am curious about my career and financial trajectory in 3 cases.

1) stick to my current firm and eventually make partner

2) go for a Master’s degree and then move to an UMM/MF PE or MBB -> UMM/MF

3) Stay in the current firm and start my own fund with other Associates in the future.

Fellow Payroll colleagues, how much are you getting paid and YOE? I’m a new pay admin with less than a year of experience in Hawaii and I feel like I am underpaid for the amount of work I do. Aside from processing payroll, I also do HR related work, specifically benefits and leave management and the amount of work is sometimes too much for me. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m new to the job or if the work is really too much because it’s overwhelming.

I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼
