Virtual federal non-supervisory GS-13+ position at an agency that allows maxiflex schedules. Not the most lucrative by a long shot, but generally a strict 40 hours per week, solid medical benefits, and great retirement benefits.

I honestly expect the remote opportunity option to continue to broaden due to the last 4 months of remote work. I would not be surprised to see it be presented in most industries as this continues.

Thanks for the insight! Few more questions if you don’t mind. Does this apply to product management and PMM roles as well? Does the team generally have to be global in nature for this to work? Is this due to COVID or has it always been that way? Aside from G do you see the other FAANGM with similar policies?

Been here almost four years and I love it

Staying in consulting. It’s all remote now.

M1 Very good point about becoming less intelligent. There is a huge learning curve in consulting, but you do hit a glass ceiling (varies depending on which consulting league tier you work for) at some point and it becomes more of the same. Law of dominishing returns perhaps? And then there's the increasing sales expectations, where you definitely start losing touch with the hardcore problem-solving that made the consulting career so rewarding in the first place. I look at many veterans in my current company and pity them. They've become very adept cogs in the machine that will be useless elsewhere.

Any online business. So many entrepreneurs hire remote talent.

Previous firm culture was all about the people, new firm is all about being the best... I knew the stereotype here was about being *the best*, but didn’t realize that people who buy into firm culture/values just repeatedly talk about how “we’re the best,” and, “we work REALLY hard bc we’re the best!!” I’m trying to commit, but end every internal call where I hear these words feeling like 🥴😶🙄. At least at the old firm there were relationships to back up the people piece and make it relatable.

Does it make sense to boomerang back to big 4 just to brand my resume for exit ops in moving to industry in the future? I’m two years away from manager and my plan is to leave public once I make manager. My thoughts are exit opps will be greater if I leave from a big 4 AAS group rather than leaving from my current middle market firm, but does it really matter leaving from a middle market vs big 4?

I’m curious to hear from people at other firms what is offered in terms of part time work or alternative work options for people that don’t really care about making partner and might want to work part time. I just had my second child and want to ask to come back from maternity leave on a part time basis but our firm doesn’t seem to have anything in place right now. If your firm offers this, what’s the billable requirement, how much of a pay cut is it, and do you still get benefits? Thanks!
