I've been freelancing for nearly 2 years but want to go full time now. Do I still need to tell recruiters I was laid off and that's when I started freelancing?
How do you quell the rage when you see posts in other bowls where male consultants talk about not taking off too much time for paternity leave? I wish they had to push a baby out

How are layoffs being announced these days? Teams? Zoom? Txt? Phone call? Seems kinda awkward if you’re wfh with the spouse and family in the same room.
PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?
Hey freelancers...I usually raise my rates every 2-3 years. For those of you long-time freelancers, how often do you raise rates? And by what percentage? Looking to keep up with market/cost-of-living and yet, not price myself out.

People that have been furloughed or laid off, have you been able to successfully apply for unemployment or is there a backlog?
I am a personal injury defense attorney and I’ve never done plaintiff’s work. I have a case where I suspect the plaintiff is malingering and exaggerating his injuries. The plaintiffs attorney has sent me multiple demands for $3 million dollars and basically begged me to respond with some offer. I’ve told him the truth - my client has no interest in trying to settle if his demand remains about twenty times higher than the actual worst case (for us) jury verdict. More in comments...
I feel bad admitting this because of the state of the world, but I had a great summer. After years of working in toxic environments with terrible people, getting laid off and having time to myself again was amazing. I finished personal projects. I got sleep. I read doorstop books that needed more attention than subway reading. And now freelance work is picking up (and I don’t hate it.) I even got Covid but only had mild symptoms. Banner summer for sure.
