Agree with Slalom re: Cumin. Was eating there once and in walks Rick Bayless. That's a pretty good endorsement.

Mild 2 spicy is sooo good

This! Just ordered on Saturday. Our Indian friend recommended it last year and we have been consistently impressed. Good flavor and large portions. Diversey near clark.

Indian food is best served at home, second served catered, and least favorably served in restaurants. Naveen’s cuisine in Bucktown does weekly grab and go dinners doe $25, and you get a 32oz of curry and 32oz of rice. Naveen also does virtual cooking classes, keep him in mind for your next team event. Also, there is plattered by nikki in Lincoln park, similar concept but a little more variety in portion.

Vajra and rooh are elevated Indian cuisine. Delish

I was scammed at Rangoli for measly paneer portions in my butter paneer.

like

Rangoli is a SCAM

Ghareeb Nawaz (great cheap eat), anmol, jk kabob house, bundoo khan.

Tandoor Char House is the correct answer

I second this. I've tried Rooh, Cumin, Mild 2 Spicy, Curry Theory, etc, and yeah Tandoor is the best I've had. They also just opened a second location (ghost kitchen) in river north!

like

Bundoo khan on Devon is amazing!

like

Beat me to it. Bundoo Khhan!

Although technically it's not Indian. It's Pakistani.

Really enjoyed gaylord Indian cuisine in Gold Coast

like

Ghareeb nawaz for the authentic stuff. Reminds me of my mums cooking back home.

A lot of the restaurants in downtown (like mild2spicy) are good, but taste like “western” Indian food.

like

I feel like everyone should caveat their recommendations with whether they are South Asian or not.

Standards are VERY different hahaha

Any indian restaurant still serving buffet?

Also some cheaper off the beaten path options: tabaq, flaming wok, and kaybees (it’s in a gas station). These are cabbie joints don’t expect fancy. Carry out

True an american and Indian definition of spicy are different which changes the dynamics

What’s the best way to tell a friend that having her 150 person wedding in a month is a sure fire way to ruin her own big day...when you’re a bridesmaid?I love her and know she’s excited, but it’s a dangerous idea. I don’t think she’s a “denier” but she just keeps saying “it’ll be fine” and “God will help it all come together” (she’s VERY religious). I don’t want to lose a decades long friendship but I am not comfortable going and am starting to resent her for putting us in this spot. Help!

I’m interviewing with Kearney now but I’m on the fence about whether I want to potentially sacrifice wlb for money. Can anyone here tell me about the culture at Kearney, exit ops, meaningful work, wlb, etc at Kearney?

Moved to the city about 6 months ago and I’ve been disappointed in my experience. I know the pandemic is playing a factor but I didn’t expect the winter days as gloomy as they’ve been. For those who have lived here for a while, is this normally what the winters are like? What do you do to keep things interesting when you can’t go outside? Last two months have made me consider moving but part of me feels like I won’t have given the city a fair shot

I’m looking for a roommate starting 3/1. I live in a BEAUTIFUL home in the loop with the view of the lake. You’d have your own spacious bedroom and bathroom. The home is completely furnished so you don’t need to buy any furniture. My one request is that as a vegetarian, I’m looking for someone who is also vegetarian/vegan or someone who will not cook or eat meat at home. I’m happy to share pictures and more details on rent.
