I know directors don’t really know what it’s like to have close to 100k in student loans since when y’all were in school 4 years of education was cheaper than 1 year in todays world, but I’d like to be able to eat while I help make the world a better place

FSG, Dalberg, Palladium and the you have traditional development consultancies (Adam Smith International, DAI, etc.). Big4 actually do provide services to UN/Nonprofits, so it's worth exploring that path, too.

Do you know which big4 provide services to UN/non profits?

Bridgespan

I've actually heard really great things about bridgespan in

They are very few and far between - honestly, if you really want to make a difference you have a number of choices. 1. Go work for an NGO and take a considerable pay cut 2. Join a firm which has very active community goals or a lot of pro bono 3. Work hard and give a percentage of your salary away and volunteer at weekends 4. Work your ass off now, and switch when you can afford the pay cut 5. Take sabbaticals or unpaid leave and go do some good stuff then return and help as a volunteer in your spare time You may of course find a company that will give you a job that pays you well whilst they make the world a better place. However they are few and far between. Good luck

Move into Federal, get a clearance, and then work for an economically disadvantaged small business that does staff aug contracting for the Department of State or USAID. They have low overhead and often bid on contracts with unrealistic staffing plans, so if a client wants you you’ll have salary leverage.

Aren’t there some firms who do work like this? Am thinking something like Accenture Development Partners...

ADP is a salary cut, but it's meant to be temporary. Acn does have a decent non-profit practice based in the DC area.

Independent consulting.

Or just stay in the firm and get on DOS...

MD or MBA? I got into both. I know most will say choose the MD, but hear me out: MD: I'd have to go into a specialty to have a good IRR given my salary & the $200K+ debt. By the time I'd be done with residency the US may be in a single payer system. US doctors make 3x the amount in France and 2x vs UK.. I currently make what a doctor makes in France. That could be the future here, too. MBA: 1 yr. Europe. I'd make about 15-20% more vs. now.

I went back to my old job when I lost my job. This was probably more an emotional decision. My old manager and team welcomed me back with open arms. I’ve only been back for a couple of weeks but I’ve realized that I want to pivot into analytics and my current role has limitations in this area. Am I horrible for wanting to leave even though they asked me that I was planning to stick around for more than a few months. Any advice appreciated!
