When you have a family and a partner that doesn't make enough money to support the family, the health benefits and consistent paycheck are really important.

I found it harder to consistently produce good work while freelancing so after a while my portfolio was getting old. I find 1.5 years the perfect amount of time to freelance before going full time again.

In the exact same boat. More money, less stress. Actually feel appreciate. But I’m especially tempted to take the full time offer because I was months away from buying my first home and that’s not gonna happen as easily with recently freelance employment.

Hey, thanks! I’m going to look into that.

Agree with ACD1. Freelancing kills your portfolio.

ill provide some counter perspective - freelance has filled my portfolio with much better work and diversity extremely quickly. i am lucky that ive been able to get cool gigs consistently though. when you naturally start double booking as contracts get extended and overlap, your income doubles and affording healthcare becomes no problem. Less stress as well as there's a bit of non-caring relaxed feeling generally because you don't have a career manager. sometimes bad gigs come but it's only temporary. freelancing has been the best decision ive ever made

I always thought it was strange that agencies rarely let candidates know the client until they are towards the end of the process. My position has way more job security than others simply because I work for a CPG client. Those in the same role on other accounts (e.g. airlines, hotels, fitness) have been furloughed or even laid off just because of the nature of the industry their client is in. Do we think agencies will have to be more transparent and let candidates ultimately chose the client?

How to negotiate being brought on at a higher level? Was laid off and recently received an offer from a comparable consulting firm, but they want to bring me in at a level lower than what I was at before. How should I go about negotiating to be brought on at the same level I was at (two years of experience at level, would have gone up next performance year)?

Since graduating college 4.5 years ago I’ve worked at three marketing agencies averaging a year and two months at each. I took four months off earlier this year after a layoff to study data science. I’m now back in digital marketing on month six of my current job. How long should I stay at my current company? I’ve been told two years minimum which is unfortunate because if I leave in six months I’ll make a lot more money on the market.
