The only way to survive in Big 4 is by having a Godfather (or Godmother), without them it’s impossible to keep growing and getting good opportunities!
Seeing posts about transitioning from PA to Law a lot lately and i’m not gonna lie, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer as a kid but never pursued b/c of confidence issues (knew a few lawyers and where I was at in life at 17, I didn’t think there was a chance to become a lawyer). Now I am in Big 4 and still think about being a lawyer. So i’m now considering law school. I went to a really small undergrad, but graduated cum laude and took a few accounting courses at a big school (continued..)
Meeting with a partner in SaT at EY for valuation. Any advice on things I can ask about or ways I can prepare? Currently a consultant in another big 4 breaking into valuation. Thanks!
Any fish have experience moving from B4 management consulting into a PE portfolio operations role? What are the big names to know in NYC besides the obvious like Capstone? Any tips how to break in?
I am getting promoted soon. I work out of the NYC office of a top ten (non B4) firm. I would love some insight on what others in a similar situation were paid as a first year manager or expect to be paid.
I am currently sitting at 92.5k as a senior. Covid killed my most recent raise (for the whole firm). I am consistently getting high ratings.
Thanks in advance!
Poll for the group - How common are PIPs at the various Big 4? Is it like the whole bottom 10% of everyone’s group or a once-in-a-while-this-person-is-dumb kind of thing? Have heard of quite a few within my group and wondering if it’s normal or something isn’t quite right.
Has anyone left big 4 tax for a small regional firm? Was work life balance actually better? Looking to make a move and I'm curious what others have experienced

I've been thinking about moving from one big 4 to another, but switching service lines within tax. I have about 2 years of experience, but wanted to try something different.
Normally I think I'd apply for experienced or senior positions, but I have no experience in the other service line I want to go to. Would it be ok for me to apply for an entry level position? I really don't mind starting over.
Anyone ever heard of Alpha Financial Markets? What are the pros and cons of working at a boutique consulting firm compared to the Big 4?
What’s your opinion about independent consulting when compared with B4 consulting positions?
I’m 50/50 on pursuing healthcare, but I’m writing about it in my essays since I’ve only done healthcare consulting throughout my 4 years in B4. Wharton is my top choice. Will they raise an eyebrow if I don’t apply to the Health Care Management program if my story is about continuing to work in healthcare?
Thinking about going back to school to get a masters in business analytics or data science in California. Anyone leave public acct/ big 4 to do this? Worth it? Thoughts/comments appreciated. Hoping it leads to better pay/ better wlb/ more interesting work
I think being in US dominated chats makes it difficult for us to gage consultant compensation outside of US. I know the TC amounts to a lot less compared to US due to job market & better state welfare, but if you are MBB~Big 4 consultant in London, is it possible to have an upper-middle class life (let’s say ~3 kids, spouse doing ~50k job, detached house in Home Counties, HMC private schools, nice holiday once every few years, Rover and a mini)?
Is it okay to ask new firm, pending offer. To push start date to allow me to close out current deliverables and project? Potential start date in January. Anyone have experience with this?
When is Deloitte's next payday for biweekly?
Hey Fish Fam, I am currently applying to new roles and on the “My experience” page the only required field is to add my resume - the work experience and education fields are optional. Think it will hurt my chances to only add my resume and not go through the manual effort of adding all of my work experiences and education?

Hi! I’ve got an interview for a corporate counsel position for a remote tech company. I am SO excited for the potential of this offer - but my only experience is family law. I’ve also only been practicing for a year. Any tips/advice on how to stand out or how to illustrate that my family law experience will translate into a commercial role?? Thanks!!
My OPT expires in May and I will go for graduate school in August. I want to do a summer internship. Can I do an unpaid internship without work authorization? Here is what I found on DOL website. An unpaid internship qualifies if these criteria meet:
