My system (in NAMR) doesn’t do much in my industry PA, so it requires a lot of consistent outreach on my end to find BD/projects from other systems. Then, I’m usually directed to cases or have to stay for follow on work on projects I don’t want to do, and I haven’t rocked the boat too much, yet (I suppose this is on me, but being a lateral is tough). Once my current project ends I will try again but it seems to always be an uphill battle, somewhat driven by my system. I would have my own leads but as a principal who hasn’t had much help from the industry PA, I’m not at a point where I would even want to share those with MDPs yet.
At this point you’re basically still building a network and a platform at BCG. I don’t see a downside. The biggest risk is not making partner in time at the new firm, but tbh, do you think you’re going to make partner at BCG?
Having gone through similar circumstances over the past 2 years, I am looking to do the same thing or exit to industry. Doesn’t seem to be much point in sticking around at BCG now. NAMR lateral also here.

That’s an unusual situation for a lateral Principal - are the MDPs in your system light on sold work? Have you tried reaching out to help with business development and pursuing your own leads?
I wouldn't do it. Even if you succeed, you would have to rebuild your platform and sponsorships from scratch, and then there is the risk of being up or outed if you don't make partner in time.
