Depends on the project. My roommates at Deloitte have projects there.

No clearance

NSA will need a TS/SCI w/poly. CMS contracts shouldn’t have strict clearance requirements.

NSA would be cool. But I'm sure the process is not easy.

CMS, Social Security are both outside of Baltimore

That's not too bad. Thanks.

Getting a job at Ft. Meade will be difficult without having a clearance

Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

Currently working with a large federal contractor (think along the lines of Leidos, Del, Booz). What are some growing pains I should expect working for a small to medium sized boutique firm focusing on cyber and cloud? For me it is a great opportunity to build some presales skills I don't have on my resume. But I'm worried about exit opps because of a lack of brand recognition. Also will be compensated well but the role is supported by overhead.

Got an offer with a 35% bump doing similar work and with the option with some remote (usually work in the office full time). Commute is a tad longer and its a small, young firm. I’ve always worked for the big guys — Deloitte, ACN. I guess the worry is the unknown of a small firm with only a handful of contracts. Granted I do hold a TS/SCI w/ poly, so if it goes bust I should be fine job security wise. Go for it?
