-stock when you join
-more stock every year (mine was $40K yearly, which doubled in value😍)
-Standing desks
-New computer every 2 years
-2 computers if you’re a tech role
-Access to 1000s of free professional development courses internally (crucial conversations, negotiation, stretch - womens leadership, sojourn - be more DEI)
-mentors, gurus
-authors, concerts, Googleween, fun pop ups all the time with food, boba, games and balloons and swag
-Take Your Parents To Work Day
-Take Your Child to Work Day are huge, organized events
-Chefs make our food and desserts
-Free gourmet food all the time
-Beautiful lounge spaces to work not at your desk
-arcades (like pinball, pool, ping pong)
-pools
-bazillion dance and exercise classes (I took ballet for a while)
- good managers and coworkers about 95% of the time (I’ve had only 5-6 toxic coworkers out of 300, on 4 teams, in 7 years)
-ability to move up and around
-15% bonus yearly as a default
-Free $9K match with your 401K
-Generally a fun and friendly place (yes busy)
-short term and long term disability still covers your full salary and protects your stock for up to 1.5 years (check the details)
- super politically correct teammates and managers, so when you bring up issues, the default is to try to say things the “right” way instead of being a jerk and insensitive
-if you pass away, your spouse gets your salary for 10 years (for real)
-heated toilet seats / bidets in every other stall
-you can file a ticket for a door handle to be fixed, and it literally will be fixed
-google security helps save ducks that fall in drains, and even offered me water and a hug when I was crying in my car in the parking lot (about a break up!), and another time jumped my car and pushed my car out of traffic in Sunnyvale. Srsly - Google Security team (security guards) has a level of heart I have never experienced anywhere and I love it.
-open forums internally to ask questions and get actual answers from leadership
-memegen (internal meme generator is hilarious)
-college campus feel - I’ve said that it’s the place where anyone who felt out of place in high school, finally has a place they belong. We’re all nerds (except for recruiters and sellers, who will always be the nice cool kids, and the best dressed!)
- opportunities to mentor
-your voice is heard and your creativity and ideas are wanted on Day 1
-people don’t work crazy hours (unless you’re on a product team like hardware or OS 🥺)
-free laundry rooms and soap !!!
- privilege that comes with having Google on your resume (getting called for interviews, invitations to speak at events at your Alma mater, getting approved like when trying to find an apartment)

Lol definitely don’t expect Chicago to have all of those. The CA officers and MTV headquarters have a LOT more than what’s in every other office around the world. Measuring benefits/perks against the MTV HQ isn’t really fair tbh

Trust the FTEs who have shared the benefits. I worked out of the New York office for two years as a contingent worker and it was amazing. I didn’t even get all of the benefits that FTEs get and I was very happy.

As a CW: Nice pay rate, great campus to work out of. The main building and the Chelsea market building. So many comfy places to work away from your desk, free breakfast, lunch, and dinner ( pre pandemic), free Google Talks (great guests from authors to celebs like Beyoncé’s mom), daily massages (CWs got to use the swanky massage chairs. FTEs get the real deal), discounts on Google swag, travel, electronics, cars, and more.

The consulting agency that I was working with even lowered my health premiums after six months due to their partnership with Google. It was the lowest premium I had ever paid even when I was an FTE with other companies. Internet reimbursement, tix to free offsite events like film premieres and tech events, smart team mates (I made so many valuable connections and friends), great WLB, free access to several gyms and a Peloton studio, did I mention the free food? 15+ cafes on campus with gourmet food!

Respect from having Google on your resume even as a CW has been great for helping me make it to the next level. I currently have interviews with two FAANG companies and one respected fintech shop and all for FTE roles. Two senior positions at that! I loved my time at Google and was very grateful for the experience.

What benefits are you looking for? 401k match is 50% (no cap), HSA contribution of $2K for families ($1k for individuals), free food, massage rooms which have reopened, internet reimbursement, phone reimbursement (or take a phone and connection, both are completely paid), gBus if you’re in the Bay Area, gym facilities, discounted hotel/flights, discounts with various providers like Bose, Samsung etc., 2 weeks “work from anywhere”, pretty darn good bonuses (compared to consulting), 50% education reimbursement (up to $15K per year) for topics which are directly related to your job, mat leave 24 weeks, pat leave 18 weeks….

I mean, what else do you want?

likehelpfuluplifting

Sorry you feel that way. You should reach out to John Casey (VP, Benefits) if you believe it’s the last priority.

- 18-24 weeks parental leave.
- free parking at a lot of offices
- gym stipend for offices without full google gyms
- an internal site where you get a lot of cool tech things delivered to you 24 hours later
- 50/50 sharing for travel if you go under budget
- I think i saw some subsidized scooters if you want them
- ability to give cash spot bonuses to peers
- google will pay for X% of non-work related courses upto a limit
- google will pay for X% (high number) for relatively work related courses
- google will pay for 100% of directly work related courses
- google will pay for language training if you may need it
- super smart people
- very little filler / BS work (i.e. TPS reports)
- bonus is basically written in stone
- normal hours <40
- free swag
- no dress code
- coffee bar
- breakfast is clutch
- remote work
- work from home

It is… but it has its own policies. Overall HR related benefits are same per se, but the other Googley perks aren’t

Thank you! I’m starting in June and even the dashboard/site is basic. Very surprising. Personally, I’m trying to figure out how much paternity leave I get. I believe I read 18 weeks but why not be clear and concise.

What about Identity theft protection / service such as identity guard?

like

Nope

Commuting: gBus
Wellness: Massage credits, free counseling
Remote Work: work from anywhere weeks
Stipends: n/a

Google is a firm which cares about its employees. That has always been my takeaway.

What do you want? I’m not really sure where you’re going with this? Are you looking for something? Maybe that’ll help me.

I’m starting next Monday and curious about the internal prof development initiatives. For example, is there an internal catalog of courses related to different tech fields? Is it just the same as the available content at Coursera? Other initiatives? If anybody can share what’s available about this topic that would be super helpful 🙏

Perfect thanks

Thanks G2-. Also anyone can share what is Google policy on sponsoring Executive MBA programs?

Are you talking hall pass?

I just discovered I have vision tracking issues: my eyes don’t converge together in close-up work and they don’t track together. My brain apparently handles this by ignoring the signal from one of my eyes - and alternates throughout the day which eye signal it ignores. The treatment involves vision therapy (eye exercises). Apparently getting this fixed may help with concentration issues since my brain won’t be fighting me sitting still and reading all day. Has anyone done this? Did it help?

This year I have not got any interview from FAANG (I don’t know why…) but got two offers from Consultancy.
1. Digital Product owner (80% focusing on financial industry)
2. Digital strategy consultant ( 50% focusing on high tech industry) but my worry is that this would be more strategy work
