What are the insurance rates like at the like of Deloitte, Accenture, etc compared to Tricare Reserve Select in the Guard/Reserves? Trying to decide if staying Guard/Reserve is worth it.

The only people I’ve seen with better coverage than tricare were MN teachers. Real question is the dollar value of not having to deal with the reserves.

Insurance should not be the only reason you stay in. I did it for the following 3 things: - Insurance - flexibility to work for any company or startup without having to worry about care - clearance - I needed a reinvestigation - back-up - nice to be able to go on orders when needed - mission - I was able to get into the org that I knew I would enjoy the mission Overall - it’s been a massive headache. I got what I wanted out of it but now that I make more, I lose $$ going in, so I am really debating if it’s worth it or not.

I have a HDHP with D and it’s $78 a month but a $2800 yearly deductible. It won’t compare to tricare in terms of cost but it’s much higher quality care

like

Yes it is worth it. TriCare for the family is $250 a month for the family with very low deductibles. The cheapest option at the B4 is usually $600 a month with very high costs for a family. My current company pays 100% of my insurance cost and I still kept TriCare reserve select.

like

Tricare reserve select is much cheaper than pwc insurance. D1, I’m not sure why you think quality of care would be different. I go to the exact same civilian doctors as I would if I had PwC’s or any other health plan. The only difference is I have a deductible that’s like 200 bucks instead of $6k on PwC’s high deductible family plan.

like

Yes I apologize, I came from active where soldiers were routinely butchered on Tricare Prime

I had an option to have a zero dollar monthly premium high deductible plan and still keep TriCare. With the high deductible plan you can all but guarantee you’ll pay all expenses unless something major happens (allowing you to hit the deductible). With Tricare I pay a tiny portion ($9 copay for example) and everything is covered. It’s the best deal around for sure. Plus I’ve yet to meet a provider who doesn’t take Tricare.

like

Depends on your needs but typically better deal and same access to doctors. Wife is undergoing ivf stuff now which Tricare doesn't cover (I'm on my high deductible plan so it is) so you have some particular needs double check. Also, I kind of prefer a plan with an HSA so I can invest the money. I keep good records and can pull that money out tax free any time. So roundabout way of saying it's all situation dependent. For 99% Tricare rocks, if you have a particular need, make sure it's covered, and look at other options that involve an HSA.

like

What about the MBB firms? Are they comparable to Big 4, etc. in their plans?

I pay about $300, iirc, monthly for my wife and me. $100/person annual deductible and everyone takes our insurance. Living in NYC docs taking Tricare were hard to find.

Family plan at LEK is ~$250 a month with same deductibles as Tricare. I kept tricare just because it makes it much easier to have all records in one place for when / if I do a VA claim.

Tricare Reserve Select (medical) UnitedConcordia (dental) FedVIP (vision) All em have been incredible. Low cost, high quality (civilian doctors) Total, family of 4, paying $450/mos

What do the requirements for equity partner look like at your firm? How is origination handled (ie once you bring in a client every new matter is your origination whether they called you or someone else at the firm, whether you do the work, and even whether for insurance clients the adjuster assigning to a colleague doesn’t know who you are)? My firm has one female equity partner- who doesn’t have a family. How can I work to change the mold for others to get there?
