What are the key components of your performance review process? The data points we currently use are manager and self scoring of a scorecard for each employee (scorecard outlines mission for the position, outcomes, and competencies) as well as peer feedback based on the competencies of the position (thought being a manager only has so much insight to a person’s day to day, especially in a matrix org). What am I missing?

We use the AIM framework so it varies from having goals with metrics to goals having been completed. They can be changed, and you can have missed a goal and still be on track. It’s an interesting framework. It gives the employee a chance to give feedback on their goals during review and manager can respond or add their feedback.

Do you do stack ranking? I actually prefer OKR system to typical PM, and also looking into real-time feedback/ continuous feedback systems now

Be careful with a formal process and check with lawyers. If your performance management system would be too strict and progressive it can interfere with employment at will and create a contract between employees and employer.

Mix of OKR and KPIs are good

Develop strong job descriptions with associated competencies and measures for success. Then measure against it. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.

Looking for advice: Recently started a job and know I’m junior. My title doesn’t have “Junior” in it but i know titles can vary from place to place so I didn’t think much of it. As I was connecting with my new coworkers on LinkedIn, I saw that one of my teammates (who has the same title as I do now) spent a couple years in a Junior role at the agency before being promoted. There was no formal job description so I assumed the position was entry-level...cont.

Hi ladies. A birth control question. I take oral BC on time every day but I am struggling to feel comfortable with sex without a condom. I know BC is something like 99% effective but I am not ready for the repercussions of failure - whether raising a child or choosing not to, both are decisions I do not want to make. My partner is frustrated by this but defers to me and is willing to do whatever I'm comfortable with. I want to become comfortable without condoms. Any ideas?
