They’re basically the exact same role, but ACDs usually get saddled with a little more client management / mentoring of juniors.
Generally speaking, a good sr creative or acd should be able to crack a brief alone and then produce the work with minimal oversight.
When you can start running with briefs with little oversight, when you can do the above while also seeing and directing work from junior teams.
Every agency treats titles differently.
Generally speaking, an ACD will skirt that line between senior creative and CD, doing more mentoring, reviewing the work (maybe certain parts of it, or specific assignments).
In reality, depending on the agency, an ACD could be a senior creative with a higher title or a GCD with a lower title.
It varies a lot.
I prefer to think of myself as a Jr. ACD
I mean accounts literally have Junior Account Directors - makes sense haha
