CFA is completely useless for investment banking (which is what I'm assuming you mean by M&A) as well as PE. Studying for those tests is also incredibly time consuming; I did the first two earlier in my career. If you want to work in IB/PE your best bet is to go to business school to make a career transition.

Agreed. Charterholder, came from industry- CFA is relevant for asset management/hedge funds. Don’t waste time on it if you are drawn to deals (IB/PE) instead of trading. Also there are too many charterholders and not enough seats, I wouldn’t expect becoming one would open up many doors without investment experience.

Hi all - I am looking for some advice and possible future options. I have associate/senior KPMG experience and moved to industry working in investment accounting. I have passed the CPA exam and am looking at getting the CFE. It seems like a lot of forensic/fraud positions are based in IT/programming or other computer based skills. Are there avenues in fraud/forensics that would be open to someone with my experience? If so, are there any skills/certs that I would need to be a desirable hire? TIA!

Hi all, has anyone in supply chain taken one of the certification exams? (CPSM, CPSD, CSCP) Does it help in any way besides refreshing contents about supply chain? I was thinking might be a good way to strengthen my resume (most of my career in investment analysis) but not really sure if it really brings that much value. Any insights appreciated. #supplychain #cpsm #cpsd #cscp #education #certifications

My uncle, and aunt, had about $750k in investments scattered across 14 different retirement accounts, brokerage accounts, annuities, on different platforms. They are 65. Three months ago they asked me if I could help them consolidate everything. I agreed. We started the process and this week the last of the funds came into their new Vanguard accounts! Question: how do I scale this work organically, as a side hustle? I have an MBA in finance, but no CFP or other financial planning designation.
