I joined JPMC today as an Associate in Plano, TX. I got another offer at Morgan Stanley (Associate too) in NYC. I like the team at MS better and I have always wanted to work in NYC and would have started looking for opportunities 6-12 months down the line.
I'm on my F1 visa (OPT) and it's my first job ever (also first job in the US). MS is aware of my situation and is fine if I work for a month at JPMC and switch over. But I don't want it to have a negative impact on my career and my future!
Should you always negotiate up an offer? Even if you’re happy with the number? I think whatever salary I get next will be better than what I have now, but I don’t want to leave money on the table by not negotiating at all.
I’m trying to extract numbers from a string. I googled a formula, however the formula rounds up the last two digits of a 16 character string. Is there are a formula I could use eithoutcharacter limit?

How does your firm keep track of billable hours? Are you measured by month or year or both?
Is it normal to have a yearly requirement but get emails/phone calls any month you come in “short” (below the estimated monthly requirement to meet your yearly goal) regardless of whether you’re on track to meet or exceed your yearly requirement?

if i’m leaving a firm before i’m licensed should I be getting someone to sign off on my experience before i leave?
For years people have told me that I'm good under pressure and never seem phased. The truth is that it's because I just don't care. We're not exactly saving lives here.
Worked on MLK Day and carried the holiday. DTE isn’t letting me take the holiday this week. Is there a special way to code it?
I think this was asked of managers on FB already. Directors and partners - what are the typical vehicles you drive?
I’m updating my resume for the first time since I graduated from college - I’m S1 and only worked at PA for my full time career.. can someone help me getting idea what to add on bullet points? Especially for the associate section, I’m having hard time to come up with multiple bullet points since all I did was substantive testing 😓
Just promoted to senior associate. However, i feel like my managers are not giving me a chance to participate and take full ownership of the fs issuance process. It seems like all they’re using me ...

The hardest part about this job for me is that I can give it my absolute all but it’s still never enough
Blah blah covid… blah blah unemployment, then new job, then unemployment. Fast forward. I got contracted short-term for a tier 1 ERP conversion and implementation project, pulling/re-mapping/tying out loads of GL data for import. The VP I work for is baller but… My head is swimming with legacy accounting systems, entities, formulas, ERP lingo, 5000 VPNs, and all new remote co-workers. It’s terrifying to be so unsure of your capabilities and I fear for myself and this undertaking.
I forget how to do things so often that I have to write instructions to myself for everything. It's gotten to the point where I feel like I'm in the movie Momento.
Is it normal to consistently thinking about leaving PA? Im only a 2nd yr and want to stick it out til full 3 yrs... How do you keep going when you don't like what you do?

I've done it. Just be completely honest. Everyone makes mistakes. They were very understanding and I'm so glad I went back and asked for another chance.
What's the worse they can say, no?
There is no offer if you rejected it. Companies don't present standing offers. And why would a firm want you if you originally declined. If you owned a company, what would you think of someone like you who doesn't know what they want? If anything, they'll be glad they dodged a bullet with you.
Update: they're extending another offer 💃🏼
It's your life, don't let societal "norms" or feeling bad about going back on a commitment prevent you from making the best decision for you.
A month though...that job might be gone
Zero. At the associate level nobody is going to put up with this one month lag. That position is already gone.
If the job were still available that would be one thing, but as everyone said, it's unlikely to have stayed unfilled unless they were looking for a very specific skill set.
Whoops I read the post opposite. Nvm
They are looking for a specific skill set. Thanks for the honest opinions though
What kind of company OP?
