If you want to go to a PE fund’s portfolio improvement/internal consulting group post-MBA, you pretty much have to be at an MBB.
Very tough otherwise.
PE portco exit is very possible. I am at a MF PE portco now.

AM1 - apologies, I read your first post completely backwards. I agree with you, haha. 🥂

PE internal value creation team can be fairly intense, but pays well. You can also be hired on a deal specific basis or at a portfolio company, both of which will have real KPIs and will be very performance focused vs typical industry jobs.

It will pay well and will keep the pace / results driven environment you are used to.

I think the most flexibility for getting these roles is pre-MBA.

What are your alternative options? Or are you looking to compare to staying consulting?

Hi All,
I wish to join one of the top consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, B&C etc. I am currently working as a Business Analyst with a work ex of 3 years.
I have started exploring on my own and one thing that came out different were Case Studies interviews and I have started reading and preparing for them.
I will do MBA also post working in one of these firms.
I was hoping if anyone can help me to prepare better or suggest a plan to land a job for a role that aligns with my ambitions.
Thank You

Currently in outpatient ortho PT. Been in the career for several years and I’ve enjoyed it but I’m wanting to look for other opportunities outside of patient care. No interest in doing a residency or teaching. I’ve been thinking of doing an MBA but unsure of what opportunities out there such as admin roles, ortho sales, consulting, etc. I’ve taken several business classes in undergrad and enjoyed them. Looking for advice on career transition and whether an MBA is worth it. Thanks!

Hey Dallas folks!

I want to get to know the local private companies. I worked at a private company with 2-3k employees before my MBA. They had an amazing culture, but limited progression opportunities. I'm thinking about looking for a smaller company (couple hundred to couple thousand employees) in the Dallas area and looking to find an amazing culture.

Anyone have recommendations on companies with great cultures in the Dallas/north of Dallas areas? (I live in the Plano/Allen/Mckinney area)

I have a MHA, MBA, and BSHA. I’m wanting to get into a supervisor or manger role but I don’t have the experience. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I dive in and start getting the experience I need? I live in Washington and work in Oregon. Also, anything using my MBA would be favored as well, this degree is not healthcare specific. Thank you!

Additional Posts in Consulting Exit Opportunities

Left a job I love (WLB + Product + Team) for a similar role with double the comp (literally double) and a better brand name company (so-so industry). Guess I’m more financially motivated that I thought haha hope I don’t regret this 😂

I applied to a job a few weeks ago and got a notice that they had frozen hiring for the role. Now, I see they have the role posted again. Thoughts on reaching out to a recruiter on LinkedIn to express interest?

I moved from consulting to tech close to a year ago. I really enjoy working with my direct boss, who creates opportunities for me, but am frustrated by my boss' boss, who is an absolute nightmare of a micromanager. Emails / messages late at night (say 3am) and over weekends, and even whilst he is on break... which frankly sets horrible expectations. Also, changes his mind all the time. Should I move elsewhere? I'm torn as my direct boss is great.

Concern on going to another FAANG is getting de-leveled/starting over. L5 is nebulous middle management, and it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle.
