Smaller firms tend to have less WLB because they are more reluctant to say “no” to clients—as there’s less clients to go around! In that vein, projects can be less strategic because of a push for revenue—what clients want, clients get, even if it’s not the core focus area of the firm. Also less training for junior staff.

I've had the opposite experience from A1 actually, just depends on the firm.

Myself and another associate at our 10 attorney firm are wanting to leave and start our own practice after only one year as attorneys. We both have extensive experience in the legal field. While people often argue we should “stay for the experience” we have found nobody is mentoring us and we have to figure it all out by ourselves anyway. Are we crazy to start our own firm next year?

Any tips on starting this networking process if you don’t have many natural “ins”?

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.

Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?

Anyone have tips for dealing with pain caused by stress/anxiety? For over two years I’ve had this unexplained back/shoulder/neck pain and the doctors couldn’t pin it on anything. I transitioned out of running my own business and into a traditional role and the pain immediately disappeared. Now that I’ve been in the role for 6 months I’m having flare ups again. I’ve narrowed it down to be stress induced. I’ve started therapy, and I do strength training 3x a week. Any more tips? Apps for stress?
