I think it’s disrespectful to call a meeting over the summer months! There should be respected boundaries! Our team leader messages occasionally during summer to keep us updated on new hires in our team or forward a message from our admin, but would never call a team meeting over the summer months! Meetings are for contract time.

If it's optional, fine.
If they offer to pay you for your time, even better.
If they say it's mandatory, consult your contract and consider a grievance.
I don’t get out of bed to work non-contracted time for less than $30 per hour. But it depends on your district’s expectations and the strength of your collective bargaining agreement and NEA representation.
I’d say it’s contract dependent. If you’re a 10.5-mo employee and this is your time off, then optional. If I had nothing else to do and wanted my voice heard on something or was bored, sure whatever. On vacation, I’d send my regrets

Depends on the team. My department is really close and will text memes to each other, ask the occasional question, share abominable dad jokes, etc. Sometimes someone will get wind of something work-related and share it. Sometimes we meet up for lunch. So I would say the kind of team and the kind of relationship you have will determine what you do.
These things should have been decided by the team before the summer break.
I would think it would be district and contract dependent.
Lunch meet or coffee meet with mostly gab and a little work? I’m probably OK. At the school and required? Then whoever is calling the meeting better bring a time sheet with them. If I’m in town, that is.
All voluntary for my school, unless an emergency.
Unionize.
Check your contract! Every place is different.

In states with unions and reasonable workplace protections, the meetings would be voluntary, optional, and paid. In states without those things, your best bet is probably to attend if you're trying to curry favor and pretend you never got the notice otherwise. If you get a call from work during summer, let it go to voicemail.
No!
Simple solution.
Get a work phone.
Don't plug it in until the day before you return to work.
We typically don’t meet in the summer, unless the district pays us to come in. Even then, it’s still voluntary. I love my teammates, but I spend a ton of time with them throughout the year. It’s nice to have a little break from them in the summer. When we start to meet again when school starts, we jump right into the same banter. Love it! ❤️❤️
