- even more toxic when in the surface it seems to be everything just fine but all of the above happens
do you think these are more common in FAANG/MAANG vs startups?
High voluntary attrition.
I'd say this coupled with low morale. But, for example, my company is a startup and we were losing people because we could not offer competitive benefits just yet. Not toxic at all. Now we have more funding and things have improved.
If you have to ask…it’s toxic. Get out!
Working with people who micromanage and don’t allow you to self organise . Not admitting mistakes
If you develop a constant fear of being fired, I feel your work environment may be unhealthy.
If the action of taking your PTO is shunned, that screams TOXIC.
For me, it was getting that pit in my stomach every morning as I got closer to the office. I'd just sit in the car for like 5 minutes trying to will myself to go in. I hated that job and those managers.
This is a good one. Now that I think of it, any place I have felt that way, was very toxic. That feeling is intution telling you something.
when they're allergic to change. it shows that the toxic culture has already been at place for a while and no one is willing to change that
When you gotta sit 60ft away from your boss.
Not welcoming
Noticing a lot of gossiping
No team work. Ppl are not willing to help out colleagues
Micro-Managing Manager
No employee engagement events from management
Another one - saying no to too many of your reasonable holiday requests
Naming employees “bad leavers” when there was no gross misconduct so they can’t keep vested options
I'm always taking in what others say about their coworkers. There is always one gossip in the crowd that will talk about everyone. I listen to how people talk about their coworkers and that tells me everything I need to know.
Competition, back-stabbing, low morale, lack of inclusiveness and respect for others...lack of transparency from management
