Lately I’ve really struggled to do that. In the pre-pandemic world, I spent all of my time on client sites walking the halls. Now I’m trying to find my way through emails, virtual outreach and lately I’ve been publishing more in terms of white papers and POVs.

I also try to work a section of the alphabet each week - dialing contacts in my phone to catch up. It’s really tough though and I find myself getting really depressed as I’m just not generating the kind of market momentum I’m used to.

I don’t mean to sound like I’m whining, and I do love being home, but this is just brutal. Networking leads to opportunities and opportunities lead sales. And I’ve just not figured out how to gain more traction on the networking front.

Hi! I work in healthcare as a business consultant. I've been in the managed care space for 10+ years (payer&provider). Looking to transition into a management role but having a hard time getting past the experience requirement. Wondering how to get the experience if I don't get an opportunity to work in this type of role. Ive particpated in leadership development trainings and cohorts. I'm tenured in my industry. Any recommendations? Anyone know of an organization hiring in FL? Remote preferred.

Has anyone ever had to pay back legal/greencard fees? I had to sign a document saying that I would pay back all fees incurred by my company if I quit within a year of leaving after I got my greencard. I’ve been at this company for 7 years and the greencard process took 4 years. I got the greencard this March but I’m not sure if I can deal with working here for another 6 months.

Hi everyone, share your blindsided layoff stories below so I can feel a little bit better about mine.

Covered a managers meeting for her yesterday, was with some senior members of the marketing team. A director opens the call with “we are so sorry about the impacts the layoffs have had on your teams today…” then noticed I was in the call and said “we are still notifying others so best to keep it under the radar” …25% of my team was let go three hours later with no warning😬

I feel a little crazy saying this, but more money at this point doesn’t resonate. I see a ton of exit planning and boomerang threads here, but I’d take a 50% pay cut (or a 50% raise) for an exciting role. That’s totally privilege talking, but I just can’t imagine chasing extra money in PE or lateraling just for the money. No virtue signaling here at all. I actually worry on some level that I’m somehow a moron for not giving a thought to maximizing earnings.

Hi I moved overseas 7 years ago and am ready to move back to the US. I am in advisory and would appreciate some insight into what comp looks like at the moment at partner level. Can you share any of the following: comp, city, years of experience, specialty, employer to help guide my job search?

All -
I am interviewing for a Strategy leadership role at a SaaS company. A bit rusty on interviews so crowdsourcing from senior folks here, what are best practices or good examples of certain behavioral questions.

1. What is your weakness? I can talk at length about strengths but unclear what weakness to state so as to not mess up my chances.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? This question is tough because there aren't very many levels above me so cannot say in an EVP role.

Is there a general expectation that a Partner has an MBA?

I doubt it's required at most firms but I'm a pretty senior staff and when I speak with Partners, they seem to speak with an MBA level of business knowledge which extends past their technical skillset.

I realize that's what makes them good Partners but it makes me wonder if I realistically need to get an MBA to keep growing and hit Partner.
