I was a top-performing sales rep in pharma and tech for 5 years, tech recruiting for 3.5 years, and recently transitioned to HRBP at a tech professional services company in NYC. I'm paid $119k. When I asked for a raise I was told I am already overpaid for HRBP. Is this true? What sources can I leverage for accurate pay in tech and HR? Payscale, Glassdoor, etc. all seem really low w/ the markets focus on hiring/retention. My focus is employee engagement and retention of mostly engineering teams.

The bad HR people who ruin it for the rest of us
I agree! Poor issue management by HR is a red flag. It's a sad fact but we can't deny it.

Also, I’ve found business leaders are often selective in the advice they take and when they include me. Only when it’s convenient and they like my response do they take my opinion or recommendation into consideration. It can be incredibly demoralizing.
People. Can't control them.
This is so true. You really can't.
People, obviously. The reason my I chose the HR department is because I want to interact with people. But I realized that I'm still not ready to deal with people.
You will never be ready. They are so fucking difficult. What's so hard about showing up on time and doing your job then going home?
Dealing with the affects that inexperienced managers have on the work environment. Managers who simply don’t know how talk to people, scared to manage, and use HR as a scapegoat are the source of so many of my problems.
People thinking they can just complain to you all the time, we have to set boundaries and sometimes it can be mentally exhausting
Yes! I resonate with this one. Even the smallest issues that could have been settled within their departments are still forwarded to us. If we are not that careful with boundaries, it's going to take a hard hit on us in the end.
