1st year/stub in Texas. I was a summer at my firm in both 2019-2020. Thought I preferred litigation, and told the firm that last summer. Had a change of heart, and in April of this year asked the CTO to switch to transactional. However, she said they didn’t have a need for another junior in transactional. Now I’m in lit and hate it. Can I ask to switch again? When would be the best time to do so? Or should/can I lateral as a 1st yr? I like my firm, just don’t want to start my career like this

L7 Consulting, Chicago, $152k, ~4 YoE total. MD in Strategy has offered to sponsor me to move over as Manager. I’ve been told by SMD in Consulting (who recruited me) that I should be expecting L6 SM in the next year, year and a half, and likely won’t get promoted as fast in Strategy. 1.BCG is T1 in the region while Bain doesn't seem so. Do you confirm? And the trend?

2.Interviews/negotiations went great with Bain vs BCG more acrimonious. Does my experience reflect structural cultural differences (pressure, up or out, cutthroat)?
