Any Aon pension actuaries who could help my friend understand the hierarchy of titles? Let’s say my friend has 10 years of experience, FSA and EA credentials, was a consistently high performer over his career, what would his expected title be at Aon within the core retirement actuarial business? Thanks in advance.

It wasn’t very good when I was there. Mostly it’s very “hustle” oriented AKA you end up with a lot of random work outside of your priorities and the expectation is you will “hustle” to get it done. Inefficient, leads to a ton of short-term solutions to problems that later break, and just burns people out. Feels like the work is chasing your own tail. High turnover, especially at the exec level which leads to constantly shifting priorities. Maybe that was due to dara coming in and putting in his people. Not sure if that’s still happening.
Your mileage may vary. A lot of people liked it or leave and say it was a great learning experience. To me I don’t miss it. Felt pretty dysfunctional and discouraged me from looking at startups which likely would have the same problems x10.
Interesting, I wonder if the culture changes implemented with new leadership have trickled down yet. I have a mentor who worked closely with Dara during his banking days and has a lot of positive things to say.

I don't know uber well, but I know tech. That culture is hard to change until experienced management is in place.
Question - will you be in a place to help change it? If so, go, if not, it's going to be tech bros all day

Someone else posted about the Area Manager roles basically being aligned to recruiting drivers and a lot of non-strategic work.
This is helpful insight, thanks.
