Tech can be VERY lonely for women, especially women who do not have the typical interests that are popular in tech like gaming or surfing reddit. On top of this, women in tech get hit on while simply performing their job quite often and are subject to strange behavior from peers and coworkers, whether that’s staring, unwanted friend requests, and unwarranted comments (these have literally all happened to me over the years). These groups for me have served as a networking opportunity to find more happiness and fulfillment in my job/degree. It doesn’t seem like you’re questioning other groups such as race-based groups which were also created for underrepresented demographics in tech and other industries, so I’m wondering what you’re getting at here!
There is nothing wrong with these groups. What are you reaching with?
Also confused what OP is getting at.
Always network. These things exist because there are people outside of the “good old boy” structure and don’t get the informal networking so they do formal.
Your reputation matters far more than your actual experience. I know that’s wrong, but it’s reality, so build your rep.
In corporate settings it usually ends up being a networking opportunity, but diversity groups also let anyone join so if you’re into it, go tag along.

I suggest you support gradeschool STEM programs if that's your kind of issue. Seems to me the most direct and effective way to resolve workplace gender disparities.
To your actual question, they're disparate social organizations. Like charities, businesses, local groups, and even bowls in this app, there's enough diversity that the specifics matter. If you're after a broader picture, there has been some study on the topic. First search result on Google, a study I didn't bother reading and am only sharing to illustrate that some academic research exists:
