McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

$1 million but have to hold your pinky to your mouth
If you are in CA, you turn the question around and ask for the salary range for the position you are interviewing for (thanks to the new law that took effect this year, employers are required to provide a pay range upon reasonable request). Then you negotiate for the top of the range that aligns with the lowest amount that you're willing to accept.
Disagree with current comp +25% rule/idea, that assumes they confidentiality already know about what you make. If they don't know, don't disclose. Dont undershoot your potential comp by adding an arbitrary % onto an irrelevant number. Research the likely max for the role and work from there.
Current comp plus 25 percent
Min is +35%. Remember it’s a great market for your skills. Don’t be afraid to walk away, there’s other offers
State the range you want, with the minimum being what you actually want. Everything extra is a plus!
I go for market value. So currently for my role thats 60-75
Whatever you were thinking plus 20 percent
Look at glassdoor salaries and what you think you’d be happy with. Make the minimum whatever will make you consider the job in the first place.
Do research here and Glassdoor. Get a realistic picture of your market value and then provide a range.
I give 2x my salary specially now when recruiters are hitting me left n right. Then go from there. And yes I make below market value so ymmv
“Market competitive for the role” or similar. Try not to give the first number. If you must give a range where the bottom is what you would take and the top is much, much higher. Like “$160-250k” or something. There are some great articles online on Medium on negotiation
Do your Glassdoor research and delay as long as possible. If you give them a number, they will target below your low end.
